Hi all, I'm a newbie, who's super excited about my first trip to WDW in August!!!:woohoo:

Hello and welcome to the Dis

Im sure you will have a fantastic first Disney vacation in August :) Make sure you check out the main boards to get some tips from the pro's.

Hi and welcome! We'll be there in August as well, and the excitement is really starting to build.

A few things you may not have thought of:
- hit Walmart or the dollar store and load up on cheap ponchos. August is famous for "pop up" showers in the afternoon. If you have a stroller, don't forget one or 2 for it; you can weigh down the ponchos with clothespins while you're at an attraction.

-We LOVE our Mistymate personal misters. (We got ours at amazon, but you can find them at BJs or at other places.) They make a huge difference!!

- I still have to pick up those glow in the dark bracelets/necklaces at the dollar store. It's a whole lot easier to keep track of everyone in the dark when you're all wearing the same color bracelets.

- Consider placing a grocery order through www.gardengrocer.com or www.wegoshop.com . I placed mine on Saturday-- 2 cases of water, breakfast stuff, and park munchies. The water is vital; you do NOT want to pay park prices and need to stay hydrated.

Have I overwhelmed you yet?

Thanks for the welcome and advice! And yes my excitement is growing. I've taken two solo vacations to Orlando, visiting SeaWorld and Universal, but this will be my first trip to WDW!!

Welcome to the DISboard family! You will find so many tips and ideas to make your vacation amazing. One thing you find out about WDW is the more prepared, organized and planned you are the better time you will have. Most vacations are a what ever vacation but I am a firm believer that the better you prepare and inform yourself prior to your trip the better time you will have. The DISboards is the best place to learn all the in's and out's and to enjoy other people's trip reports.. The first time my family ever went we missed a whole section of the Magic Kingdom from being poorly prepared. You don't have to overwhelm yourself just be prepared so you can enjoy yourself. I recommend looking at the maps of the various parks and areas you have interest in visiting and making yourself familiar with layout and with parade and firework times so you dont miss them but still get to enjoy other things.

The biggest tips I can offer!!!!
1)Have Fun!
2)Dress comfortable and cool and wear supportive, comfortable shoes!
3)Make Disney Reservations as soon as possible

Enjoy
