Super Bowl commercials! What's your favorite (so far)?

Overall I thought the commercials were pretty lame, but my favorite was the Doritos shock collar.

I'm conflicted over the hands off my mama commercial. I get it in the context it's meant, but it would have been just as effective if the kid had just got in his face, or even grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him close. I did think it was funny though.

It provoked people and I imagine that's what it was meant to do.

One I haven't seen mentioned is the guy in the truck with the whale, which I assume was a play on the The Hangover/tiger.

I liked the Intel commercial with Jeffrey the robot. So sad for the little guy.

That was my favorite!!!

Honestly I hated both the dog shock collar and the kid hitting the guy for Doritos. Since when is taunting a dog to hurt itself funny? Same with a kid hitting an adult... since when is that okay? Guess I am getting old....

What I liked about that commercial, was that the dog was smart enough NOT to hurt itself due to the guys taunting. Instead, he got a little of his own back by putting the collar on the guy doing the teasing. ;)

It would only be a drinking problem if he drank them all himself, at one time.

In some cases yes. The reason why I had a problem with it is b/c I have a family member who has a problem with drinking where he would accumulate bottles over time. So it hit me on a more personal level than most viewers. I also had a friend whose father had the same problem when we were kids and his garage was just about completely filled with cases of empty bottles and cans.

But like I said previously, it's just my opinion. Other opinions differ and that's ok. There are going to be people who liked the commercial and those that didn't.

I was watching CBS This Morning on Monday--they said that the Dorito's commercials were private submissions in a contest. Those selected could win up to $1 million depending on how they placed in a specific ad rating--

Shock collar was the 2nd most favorite and the creator of that spot won $600,000. The commercial cost him about $200 or so to make.

I'm guessing the "keep your hands off my momma" spot was created in the same manner.

I understand your POV--but this guy didn't drink all those cans. They were still full. (And thus poking fun at "being green"). His guests were able to help themselves to a wall, to a window--or as the case maybe -- inadvertently to the shower.

I understand what you're saying. But I don't want to take this thread into the wrong direction.

Regarding the shower part, DH and his co-workers absolutely loved that. And it was kind of funny.

The sister of one of my niece's friends did a Dorito commercial but it wasn't one that was shown. It wasn't funny - I didn't think so anyway. It was a bunch of girls modeling and what they thought was the camera snapping was a guy eating Dorito's - he was more interested in eating his Dorito's the the half naked girls in front of him. :rolleyes1

I loved the shock collar one and the keep hands off my momma one. Cool for them if they can make that much after only spending what is like pennies.
