I just booked a November/Dec trip to Disney yesterday () and now I'm looking for deals on flights. I looked up flights on Expedia.ca and I see a flight out of Toronto for $390 with Sunwing Airlines and it says its a "charter fare".

Anyone have experience with Sunwing Airlines? and what makes it a "charter fare"? Would it be a good idea to book it? It looks like a good deal to me, but I'm not familiar with that airline and what a charter fare is.

I did not end up using Sunwing. I paid extra for insurance, and then when I added 2 days to my trip, I did not know I was using up my insurance. When I had to cancel the trip, they did not give me a penny, not a credit, not a refund, nothing. I am never using them. I would have assumed that he would have told me I'd need to buy extra insurance for the 2 days or something like that. So not only did I waste money on insurance, (possibly $200 or more) that I knew was non-refundable, I lost my flight money. Total was $480ish but had been around $200 before I added the insurance.

They might be okay if you know 100% that nothing will happen and you will not be cancelled, but if there is any doubt whatsoever, I wouldn't go near them.

We went through Sunwing in January and had no problem. The flight was only delayed due to weather, but still made good time. The flight staff were very accomodating/welcoming. We changed our flight dates as we had our trip booked before they came out with the 3/4 deal. When we made the change we were advised about the insurance. Unfortunately for DisneyFreak they didn't provide them all of the information. I would definitely use them again and like the fact that their flight to MCO is first thing in the AM, non-stop. One additional note, you may want to look at Red Tag, they seemed to have the best rate for Sunwing.

We used Sunwing in January of this year. No complaints.

Staff were great. Arrivals and departures were right on time.

A breakfasty snack was served on our way there (8 a.m. flight), and sandwiches and wraps were served on our way home (I think it was an 11 a.m. flight).

Six seats across (three on the left, an aisle, then three on the right). We all found ourselves to be kinda tight in the 3 seats, but DH is 6' 4" inches and 280 pounds, while DS is 5' 10" and 170 pounds, so they are big boys.

There were TV screens about every 4th row, suspended from the ceiling. I think most people could see reasonably well.

Cost for the Sunwing flight was far, far better than any other airlines out of Pearson.

We would use them again. :goodvibes

My family went to WDW with them in May. It was my childrens' first flight, and the flight attendants were very nice. Gave them each a free bag full of coloring pad, crayons and other travel goodies to keep them busy.

I don't travel a lot, so i can't really compare with other airlines, but I thought they were great.

Thanks for all your opinions. Its seems like with any airline, there'll be good and bad experiences. I went ahead and booked the flight. I don't think I'll find a better deal.. especially for direct flight! and the times are great arriving in Orlando at 9:30 am and departing MCO a week later at 11:30pm!! My last day will be a full one! I've never been that lucky before! :yay:

I'm so excited! 3 months, 3 weeks to go!

I flew Sunwing my last time out in Dec and had no problems. I did not purchase their insurance but bought ins through my TA instead. The seats were a little tight, not much stretching room.

But as PP said, the flights are first thing in the am and non-stop!! Sooner to Disney I say!!
