hi all,
we've just arrived back from our first trip to orlando and paid £250 each to upgrade to sunshine first. the flight out was ruined by a small child running amok and the stewardesses did not seem bothered. didn't fancy saying anything to the parents as am quite a good reader of situations and could see that the thing would have kicked off, the plane would have been diverted and i'd be on gmtv the next day. similar experience on way back and was wondering if anyone else has had similar problem and how did travel city deal with it. i know upper deck has 9 yr age minimum so considering we were paying an extra £150 each on top, would have thought no kids at all.
thanks in advance,
rick

I travelled Sunshine First this year with my two children of 8 and 10 and noted from the brochure prior to booking that it was only the Upper Class that has the minimum age restriction.

It's a real shame when there is someone disruptive in such a small area as it does spoil the flight, especially when you have paid the extra for more comfort, and I would have hoped that the cabin crew would have dealt with this situation. I have to say that I couldn't fault our cabin crew or Sunshine First. I always expect my children to behave themselves, which they do, and get extremely irritated when others are noisey and run around.

If I would you I would drop them a letter of complaint and see what happens. You have nothing to lose.

Good luck.

I think that as you didn't mention your concerns during the flight I can't see what TCD can do after the event. What kind of response would you like to see from TCD?

hi rob,
a complaint was made at the start of the return journey and the poor stewardess received a verbal tirade for passing on the comments. ideally, i and many others would want a refund of the £250. after all, what incentive is there to book sunshine first if it can potentially and justifiably be ruined by a screaming child. the woman in front booked it for the peace and relaxation yet got quite the opposite,
regards,
rick

hi all,
just a quick note to let you all know that following our letter to tcd, they have offered £160 total refund. what does everyone think ??? my view is that it was mainly outbound flight that was spoilt at £125 each so £80 per person refund seems quite reasonable.

I think that's more than reasonable Rick, especially when you consider that you're not paying for guaranteed peace and quiet, but in fact better seats, service and far more room. IMHO

Hi Rick - I also think that it is a good offer. I do understand how you feel having your flight spoiled but it is quite something for them to offer anything at all as they could simply say that the child was the parents responsibility.

I have seen and heard of this on different airlines and the cabin crew tend not to get involved. I know a friend of ours had a great problem with someone's child on a Virgin flight all the way to California but the crew kept out of it. It does put the crew in a difficult position.

Wow! I'm amazed. I'm impressed that TCD have offered you anything, let alone hard cash. I'd take it and write them a very nice 'thank you' letter...

Regards

Rob
