I have worked out a good deal for a 5 bedroom home in Sunset Ridge, but it looks like it is way far from Disney. Anyone have any experience with any homes in Sunset Ridge?

Also, what should I ask an owner? Any tips? I'm nervous about renting from an owner.

Thanks!

Wow! Your first trip ever! That is exciting. I have not stayed in Sunset Ridge, although I got a quote from someone there when I was looking to book for our next trip. I am just curious are the owners Ash and Elle? Even though I have not stayed in Sunset Ridge, I do stay out in Davenport because it is less expensive. We really like the Davenport area. Sunset Ridge is a little further out than I have stayed though. The furthest on 27 we have stayed is at the Solana Resort and Sunset Ridge is further down. My guess is the quickest way to Disney would be to jump on I-4. Have you asked the owners what the drive time is to Disney? Next year we are staying at the Champions Gate area, which is a new location for us. When looking at the map, it looks like Sunset Ridge is 3 exits further from where we are staying and we have been told by other Disers that it is a pretty quick drive, so it may not be too bad. While I LOVE Davenport and don't mind being a little further out, I hope you are not disappointed since it is your first trip.
Sorry I haven't been too much help, but I wanted to make sure that someone replied to your questions.

Hi, actually your are far enough south on 27 to be in a great location to get to Disney, SW or Universal. Just hop on I-4 east north of you and take the Disney exit which is big and new and slick. Continue east to get to the other major attractions.

Only downside is a long haul to lots of restaurants, but there are a some around the I-4 interchange. In fact two of our favorite places to eat during our 3 month stay are Beef O'Brady's Family Sports Bar ( a real FAMILY sports bar) and The Pub. Both have great food for a good price. And, of course, NO smoking in any Florida restaurant). My favorite at Beef's is the blackened Fish which is grilled and very good. At the Pub, they have about 4 or 5 very British entrees including fish and chips, Shepherd's Pie (excellent) and Banger's and Mash.
THE PUB is 1 mile south of the I-4 and 27 interchange on the west side...big green building, and...
Beef's is north of I-4 interchange on 27 just a few miles on the right/east side in a small strip mall with a big Walgreens just next door....Also a big Craker Barrel right north of 1-4 and hwy 27, but we really like local places and figure we can eat at chains back in Iowa...enjoy, you are in a great location....

Some simple owner questions...
How much paper supplies do I need, TP, kitchen paper towels, soap, shampoo. Usually there is just enough to get started. I would put in some dryer sheets, my favorite bars of soap for all bathrooms, shampoo for the week. If you want to haul dish soap, laundry soap, it will save a little $$. Probably the closest store to you will be Pubix just north of I-4 a mile or so or the Publix in Champions gate just off theFIRST I-4 exit east that says "Kissimmee" and something else I can't see right now.

If there is security system, make sure you have good directions to shut if off and on

Find out if the thermostat is set permanently or can you adjust it.

Get a number to call if problems, usually a management company...hopefully, no problems but good have a number. Call right away if house is not cleaned, AC not working, or heaven forbid some bugs...Again, USUALLY NO PROBLEMS, but do not hesitate to call...

have a great time...

Ted

Hi my home is on Sunset Ridge....Ted gave some good info and just to add there is the new mall opposite the estate with Target,JCPennys,Bookstore,Petsmart and quite a few small stores. There is a 24hr Walmart just under 10 mins drive away in Haines City or you have Cagans Crossing 10 mins away down near 192 again with Walmart Publix and a number of restraunts.
Most all homes on the estate are alarmed and there are security gates at the entrance which have cameras on them that record 24hrs and there is only one entrance.
We dont rush to the parks and if you time your drive not to coinside with the business rush hour then its 20 mins to the outskirts of Disney World.
