Hi, i am trying to research these Disney weddings for my sis, she really loves the sunset pointe at the Poly, but is looking at the 18 people number.. which said that the SP allows only 8.
So, would she be able to use SP for the ceremony, if she had 8 in the bridal party per say, then have others (family) hanging around the walkway, or beach near it? (I know they can't stop the public from viewing weddings - so they shouldn't be able to stop her from having people watch from afar right?)
But, what about the cake reception, if she chooses to do the SP thing, would she have the reception someplace else? Or would they make her do the reception and ceremony at the same location??

any info would help! :goodvibes

It sounds very strange to me b/c I would think they could easily fit more than 8 chairs there... Could it be a typo and its suppose to be 18?

Just a general question - for the ceremony locations does the max number of people not include the bridal party? I was going to email and ask DFTW then I thought I would just ask here instead.

Thanks!

20 people or fewer including bride and groom, bridal party, and children/infants.

Good to know. I was just wondering more about the wishes packages. I understand for certain locations the max is a max because of the number of tables and things that can fit in a room.

We were thinking about moving our ceremony back to WDW before the cruise. Then I started thinking again about the locations I really liked and I keep looking back at the Castle. The limit is 50 - but is that the number of chairs they can fit there? My problem is that we are expecting probably about 60 but we could easily have 10 or more in our bridal party if that would allow us to have the location.

Well its pretty much exactly what you said. For a wishes wedding there isn't a minimum number of guests you can have but certain locations have minimums do to safety, seating, etc.

They are pretty strict with those numbers so if you were over by that much I don't think it would be possible. The Castle weddings have to be SOOOO early in the morning and they are so expensive you really would have to weigh the pros and cons.

Before I absolutely hated the idea of an 8am wedding and thought it would be torture for my guests to be forced to be up that early. But if we could do it the day we left for the cruise I wouldn't feel like it would be so bad. We could do the ceremony have breakfast and then jump on the bus to the cruise.

I really think that would be very stressful. I mean the port is about an hour drive at least give or take from WDW. You will have to be packed and checked out of your room and store your luggage etc. If the ceremony is at 8 you can expect 8-9 ceremony, 9-11 breakfast reception at the very, very minimum (if it is allowed, I don't know if Disney can rush service etc.). Then you would have to take your photos ahead of time because of no cocktail hour making you having to get ready even earlier. If anything goes wrong you risk missing the ship.

I had a 10 am ceremony and it wasn't too bad, we started getting ready at 5 am and we really should have started earlier because we ran late. Personally I think there are more beautiful/unique locations in Epcot, that is personal choice though. Good Luck with your decision.

So, did we confirm if it is indeed 18? Or is it really 8 for SP?

lol, Where is Lurkyloo? I *THINK* Sunset Pointe only allows 8 plus the bride & groom for a total of 10! No exceptions. Except once, where one bride somehow managed to get them to let her have a wishes wedding there, but it took a lot of arm twisting, and she didnt have very many, but it was more than 10.

Escape weddings allow 18 guests, but some SITES restrict the guest count further. So if you want SP, its 8 guests only, if you ahve 18, pick another spot.

I really love SP! I wish they would let you have 18 there, so if anyone knows different, Id love to hear it!

:rotfl:

Sunset Pointe and Sunrise Terrace (at Wilderness Lodge) have a max of 10 people including bride and groom. A few years ago the limits were higher, but they're really strict about them now.

One thing about Sunset Pointe is it's on a slight hill, so it may just be hard to put more than 8 chairs out there. :confused3

ok, but that being said, there is nothing to stop people from standing on the hill and watching... i know when we have stayed at variou WDW resorts, there were weddings that we were able to get very close to just by "walking by"..

I don't think that will fly - DFTW is really strict on this location. If they see people hanging around watching, I think they'll catch on.

With apologies to Carrie, I think DFTW planners discourage LookyLoos! :rotfl:

They are extremely strict about how many people they have at Sunset Point. They asked me over and over who all would be attending our wedding! And there were only three of us.

It is on a hill, and there are very few spots that are level enough for chairs to be added.

Also, it is so windy at that spot, that I doubt seriously that ANYONE on the beach could hear one word that is said if they are watching.

If the problem has to do with the chairs - they why couldn't they let you have 18 and just make everyone stand? I feel like if disney is going to have strict rules then they should have creative solutions to please their brides. I figure its disney - they are suppose to make your dreams come true - not rain on your parade!!!

It could also be a safety thing. It may not be safe to have that many people up there. It's windy and I think it would look weird to have 18 people standing watching the wedding. It would freak me out more then if they were sitting.

I just figured if they were planning to stand a distance away then why not have everyone stand there. If its a short ceremony I think it would be fine - we are even considering not having chairs for ours b/c it should hopefully be under 3 mins. If its a long ceremony then I guess one really does need chairs. Also so that everyone can hear - could they buy the sound system thing as an upgrade?

I didn't think the point was that small - I think its something worth nagging your planner about.

I agree. I think there would be a way they could make it work for more people if they tried... I can't see that the ceremony would be long enough that people HAVE to sit... (unless they are elderly)..

I was there to do a video and it was pretty small up there. Its a beautiful location but it was SOOO WINDY! LOL. I know she likes that area but if she is doing a Wishes wedding did she ever consider doing it on the GF beach? I think you can still see the castle from there. :confused3

She's not doing a wishes wedding, she would be looking at an Escape wedding,, with 18 guests max. :)
