We're headed to WDW in just 3 short weeks, and I'm beginning the process of gathering stuff we'll need and starting to pack my bags. :cool1:

We're a party of three adults, and two of us (my sister and I), have fair skin that burns easily. As such, I'm very, very careful about applying and reapplying sunscreen every single day, and I'm wondering how many bottles I should invest in to take with us for protection against the Florida sun in August. I know we can purchase sunscreen there, of course, but I also know we could end up paying quite a bit more than what I'd spend at Walmart - and I especially don't want to have to buy it in the parks for that reason.

We will be in Orlando for a total of 12 days, and I want to make sure we're covered (so to speak...).

How many bottles (6oz? 8oz? 16oz?) do you tend to pack...do you ever go through more than a 6oz or 8oz bottle in a single day?

THANKS!!!

How are you traveling. If flying ar you checking in luggage or carryon. If carryon you are only allowed 3ozs.I would bring 2 16oz and 2 6 oz

We are a family of four and stayed for 14 days. We do NOT burn easily and only reapplied regularly when we were at the water parks (4 days total). We still went through FOUR of the spray bottles of sunblock (I hate the feeling of traditional lotion sunblock, and knew we would probably go through a lot of spray, but still...).
If you like the lotion style, I'd get two large bottles, plus a smaller bottle you can refill and carry with you in the parks. For spray varieties, you better invest in four or more. Make sure its waterproof, you'll be sweating it off.

We're flying, but the sunscreen and other toiletries are going in the checked luggage, so I'm not too concerned about that.

Great tips, thanks so much. I'm thinking we'll be going with both the lotion AND the spray sunscreen. I'm like you - I hate the lotion stuff, but it seems like the spray disappears so quickly!

I'm light-skinned so I burn really easily. So do my kids. I use lotion sunscreen in the morning and sometimes use the spray when it's time to reapply. I end up going through the spray so much more quickly! But I think in some cases it's worth it. I would take a big bottle of the lotion, a smaller bottle to bring into the parks and refill, and at least two bottles of the spray. I also carry a sunscreen stick in my purse and slap it on the kids cheeks fairly often. Have a great trip!

We leave in a couple of hours (yet I am here reading the boards :rotfl: ) for 9 days I have 8 spray bottles and 1 face lotion sunscreen packed for 3 people. We might come back with a bottle but that is about it. Both DS and I are extremely pale and burn easily so we reapply about every 2-3 hours at the parks and every 1-2 hours at the water parks. With all that reapplication we still got burnt last year, but I have learned not all sunscreen is created equal regardless of the SPF rating. I did my research and took the advice from the Consumer reports...they rank Targets brand Up and Up number one for sun protection, we tried it...and while we didn't burn and it worked well it has an awful smell to it...and I mean awful. So we then went to the number two spot which was Banana Boat Sport Performance Continuous and it works really well. I haven't even gotten pink this summer and the SPF is only 30 and last year I was using 70 SPF and getting burned. :scared1:

Oh but back to your question, take more then you think you will need cause you will be surprised. Also, take consideration the size of the people you are taking...DH is 6'5'', DS is 5'3'' at age 9 and I am standing a tad under the 6ft mark so there is A LOT of leg and arm area to cover. :rotfl2:
