Hi, I am half way through packing (what a nightmare!!:lmao: )

Can I put sunscreen in my hand luggage?? - It says in the Brit Guide to carry it in your hand luggage so that you have it handy when you arrive, but I wondered about whether it was 'allowed'???:confused3

thanks alot!!:thumbsup2

Sorry don't really understand the 'have it handy' advice.

You will need it straight away when you arrive?

I would suggest putting your sun lotion in your suitcases, it is unlikely you will need immediately, I presume you will head straight for your accomodation once you arrive.

yes its evening when you arrive..(most likely) you wont be needing it at least until you have got to your apartment.
Everything is under cover when you arrive ... :)

Just pack it, the less you have to carry the better. As stated you are only allowed so much lotion which has to be in a clear plastic bag. I usually just buy lotion once we are over there. Just have it handy in your case after you have got to the hotel if you need it.

If you're worried you could always take a packet of sunscreen wipes. I'm pretty sure you can get these from boots.

Alterntively last year Tesco's were selling small sachets of sunscreen in an orange packet for around 94p. They were hanging along the shelves in the cosmetic area. I packed one of these in my hand luggage, it was under 100ml so I didn't have to worry and one sachet was enough to cover the families faces and arms is necessary. However I didn't use it the end becasue we went straight from the airport to an air conditioned bus and then on to our resort and as has already been mentioned it was evening as well. I will be packing my sunscreen in my luggage next year when we go.

thanks for the info - I didn't really understand why we would need it in our hand luggage either!! (It was just something written in my bible/Brit Guide!!:rotfl: ) - I will just put it straight in my luggage!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

For what it's worth we always buy sun lotion over there anyway, Australian Gold is great and they sell at Publix.

thanks Johnny for the tip - I will look out for that next time (Got sucked in by the Buy one get one free offers this time - and still managed to spend £60!!:lmao: ):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yep we all have at some point, tempting I know but would just rather save the extra weight/room in the cases.

I got pulled in US customs coming back to UK from Phoenix last weekend. I had completely forgotton about the container of sun cream that was in my hand luggage. It had been a very busy day - it was 94 degrees - needed the cream during the day - night flight - late to airport - huge queue to get through - easy reasons for overlooking etc etc.

It got picked up at the X-ray scan going through customs. Security were none too impressed and I was on the end of a stern finger wagging.

For our holiday in July its all going in the case.

If there is anything liquid based that you really need on the plane, or just after, i think you can buy it after you've gone through security. Most airports have boots and woolworths after security and apparently you can take items bought there onto the plane. (I haven't tried it though so i don't know how it works.)

Thanks for that info. I hadn't even thought about restrictions on the return journey. We will be checking in our luggage at Downtown Disney on the morning we leave, then planning to spend the day at Universal until our flight early evening. We shall have to use sun screen during the day so will have to try and save a nearly empty bottle to use and then dump it at the airport.

We buy all our toiletries in Orlando, I can't see the point in splashing out here at greater cost then carrying it over when you can buy everything there. Their sunscreen is far stronger also.
