DD will be just over 2 when we visit in September. I am expecting plenty of sun and I need to keep her little scalp protected. When we took her last year, we just rubbed some sun tan lotion on her head. She had some hair (not much) and it got really goopy and greasy looking. I realize it's better to look like a baby greaser than a baby tomato, BUT, now that she is older and has quite a head of hair on her, does anyone know of anything I could spray on her scalp that is designed specifically for this purpose. I know how many pictures we take and I would hate for her to have a bad hair day every day...

...please don't tell my husband I posted this :) . I would never hear the end of it!

When I put up my dd's hair, I always spray her part with the spray on sunscreen. Be sure to use the clear stuff...I made the mistake and used coppertone..and it was this thick white goop :scared1:

What about a hat, or mickey ears do you think she would keep them on? Certainly seems easier than trying to clean sunscreen out of their hair at the end of the day. But both my DD's were born with tons of hair that they never lost so I never put anything on their heads so what do I know ;)

Thank you! The parts in her hair are exactly what I want to protect...I didn't think about the clear spray. We had regular spray last time, not clear. It was pretty nasty. She looked like a blonde, baby version of Squiggy (from Laverne & Shirley).

I will certainly try a hat, but you never know with this one. She'll wear it one day and the next want nothing to do with it. Thanks for the tip.

I got Baby Blanket Sunscreen for scalps at Babies R Us. It's a spray that works well. My DD won't wear a hat, either, and the spray seemed to protect her well when we were in WDW last week. Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I always try to keep a hat on my DS and I have a Kiddopatomus Ray Shade for the stroller that keeps the sun off his head when he is riding. That has always protected him enough, but if I needed to use sunscreen on his scalp, I"d probably go with the clear spray stuff, too.

We use the spray, but I have been known to put a pea size amount of a sport type lotion in my hand and use a finger to pat apply it and rub it into the part and crown. :) Lasts a nice long time.

For just the part (and on her face) I use Ocean Potion Dab-On Spot Stick.
It's a clear non-oily lotion in a dab-on foam-tip applicator -- great for doing the part in your hair and behind the ears.

This is my recommendation as well. The stuff is great for the tops of the ears, cheeks, and nose too (no need to rub it in). One of my fave products here at the beach.

If you do put a hat on her, make sure to put sunscreen on her ears. My DS wore a hat to the zoo, and in the middle of the day I noticed the tops of his ears were looking reddish

I will have to look for that type at WalMart this weekend. I have always used Banana Boat Sport that comes in an orange bottle with a blue top. They have changed the name on the bottle this year to read Skin & Scalp. It is a clear, no-rub spray that works great.

Both my kids have very thick hair, but DH doesn't;) so we use coppertone sport. It is a clear spray and easy to apply. I prefre the pump spray, but they have a continous spray bottle as well.
