Well, the title says it all. I am one of the last I believe to still be using the good old fashioned lotions. My SIL just returned from 2 weeks in Hawaii with her kids (poor things!) and used the spray the whole time and loved it. I'm debating trying it when we head to the beach in a couple of weeks. Does it really work as well as the lotions?
TIA

Yes, it does work, you just have to know HOW to spray it in a way that it covers your whole body.

But trust me, it really does work llike the lotion. Plus, with the lotion, you have to get get your hands all sticky. With the spray, just press it and SPRAY!!.....your body.:rotfl2:

It works wonderfully! Just make sure you get good coverage over your whole body. It's easy to miss a spot if you're not rubbing it in! I use it on myself and my 3 kids and we love it.

I think that this is the greatest invention.I religiously put sunblock on my DD but I always hated doing myself because i hate the feeling of the lotions...now I use this stuff all the time.It is more expensive and does not last as long but it is so worth it.

Yes the spray works great. I mainly use the sprays because it is quicker doing all the kids. My favoriate brand is Bull Frog. We used this when we went on our cruise and when we went to Disney with our 2 year old in the Aug. heat a couple of years ago.

I was just as hesitant as you are about sprays and posted this exact questions about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was at WDW from June 1-7 and used the spray on stuff everyday. Do you know what my mom said to me when she saw us after we got home???

Where's your tan?!?! :rotfl:

yup, it works.

Definitely pack a few bottles. 6 days at WDW with it going on myself and the 2 kids - we used 2 bottles.

We stand them on a towel in the bathroom and spray them down.

Love it! It's the only way my DH will use sunscreen on himself when doing yardwork or golfing, because it's quick and easy to do.

We like Banana Boat SPORT version, used 3 - 8oz cans during our week at WDW. The only part I do with lotion is faces - using a special faces formula so it doesn't sting in the eyes.

I use this all the time. It is so much easier to put on the kids, along with the stick sunscreen for their faces. I really like that too!

It does sting if you have razor burn though, or if the kids have any new cuts.

My favorite is the Target brand, cheaper. We go thru alot of the stuff with 6 of us too.

One thing I did learn... do not spary is near your car! I did this lastyear too close to my van before swim lessons, and the spray would not come off. It left a dull residue even after we went thru the carwash.

I used it yesterday for the first time on my 3 yr old twin girls at the beach in 98 degree sunny heat and it worked excellent.
I used Banana Boat tearfree spf 50.

We first used it at Disney and loved it! So much easier and quicker - especially on squirmy kids.

As others have said, you do go through it very quickly. It can sting freshly shaven skin or cuts. It can be sticky, esp. if you spray hairlines (makes hair sticky). It does work well. It is convenient. I would suggest applying lotion sunscreen before you go out and carrying the spray with you for reapplication (unless you're not concerned about the cost - then spray away!). I did find that when the spray got on white clothes, it created an orange stain that would not come out. When I used a bleach pen on it, only some of the stains came out.

This summer, we're using sunscreen stick for the face, lotion sunscreen when we think ahead, and spray when we're in a hurry or out and about or reapplying. lol

Greatest invention ever! I can spray all 3 kids in a fraction of the time and have never had a problem. I still use the regular lotion on their faces though. Just stock up, it does get used up fast.

We wnt through 2 bottles for 6 people for 5 days (not at disney but on vacation) We love the stuff. We are on bottle #3 and I know I will need more. It is so worth the extra $$ because it only takes seconds to get everyone ready for the pool!

Direct from my oncologist....I was told that spray is GREAT, just that most people do NOT spray enough on their skin and you should be sure, especially with kids that it goes to ALL area's, tops of ears, necks, behind knees, etc..
I was also told that despite what MOST people think they know, 15 SPF covers 97% of UVA UVB, It is what is recommended to me/family. The amount "added" in protection is minimal at best for the 45, 50's. etc....The reason MANY people will tell you to get it is that you're likely "feeling safer" and putting more on with the higher SPF's. It is a personal decision and I think that with small kids and babies I'd just lather up really well with whatever you choose! Have a great summer of sun!!

OK, personal experience. I went to my daughters first field last week and got the spray, not for her, for me. My hubby is Apache and I am English/Irish. Very different skin tones. Our kids are sort of split. My DD5 is not as dark as DH, but tans like a champ!! My DS3 is as white as me. I used Coppertone SPF 30 on all of us. FANTASTIC!! DS and I didn't burn, and DD bronzed as usual. I too was a skeptic, as if I get any sun, I lobsterize. But it worked wonderfully. I did rub it in and get all the exposed areas, but still way less mess than lotion.

We just finished our first bottle of spray sunscreen. While I liked it and it worked great, 1 bottle does NOT go a long way. One bottle lasted my family less than 3 weeks!!! A bottle of the lotion lasts practically all summer!! I could not believe it this afternoon when the bottle was empty!!
