I was just wondering how many people are typically on deck to watch sunrises? i'm sure there's probably less for sunrises than sunsets....any particularly excellent spots to watch either?

Cruising in 5 days!!:smooth:

I was on deck 10 for the sunrise in Key West, there was about maybe 8-10 other people scattered between deck 9 and 10. Very peaceful and beautiful.

MJASP: I did not know that the MAGIC was in Key West early enough to see the sunrise. I thought they arrived at noon. What time did you get in and when could you disembark?

One of my favorite things to do while cruisin on NCL in Dec was to wake up in the morn, throw on some clothes (went back later to shower), grab coffee from the pool deck and go on up to the sun deck to watch the sunrise. I was tired by the end of the day but it was worth it. There were only a few other people awake that early.

I did catch a sunset or two but was usually in the dining room at that time.

I love the sunrises - it's quiet and just the thought of watching a new day begin has always meant more to me than the ending of a day.

I can always take a short nap in the afternoon if I am too tuckered out or feel self-indulgent!

I also love getting up when the rest of my family is still asleep and going up on deck to watch the sunrise.

There are only a handful of people up at that hour and everyone has their coffee/cameras ready!!!

Here are some pics of a sunrise on the morning we were arriving at Castaway Cay on our recent August cruise. Hit the arrow to see all five of the sunrise pics or keep going and see the entire page of photos from our trip.

Great slide show, mmouse37! I'm beginning to regain my enthusiasm for this trip.

What can I say? These are terrific. This will be our first cruise, and I'm getting so bogged down inn details, planning, and DIS complaints that I'd started wondering why I was bothering. Thanks for the reminder.

I for one will be up in the early hours watching the sunrise! I am an early riser(4a.m.daily) for work, so I know I will have no problem getting up and grabbing a cup of tea and watching the sun come up. I think it is a great thing to watch! Any November 2nd cruises going to be up with me???:p

On our 8/3 Magic cruise we did not get into Key West until 10:45-11:00am. We were allowed off the ship by about 11:30-11:45.

Gorgeous pics! Was this with a digital or film camera? Any particular filter? I always ask, fully knowing that most of the time it is pure luck! Right time, right place, and shooting enough frames.

It was a Sony Cyber shot digital with 3.4 mega pixels. And it was all about luck.....I had just received it the month before the trip and it was my first time using it for vacation pics.

While the ship was heading South last week the stern (rear) of the ship was the best place to see the sunrises. If that is the case on your cruise the area around the beverage station will work or take your coffee on deck 10. You meet some nice people on deck that time of the morning.
