I have tended to do better at sunset. But after a number of trips to Sanibel Island, where I try to be on the beach for every sunrise and sunset, I've decided it's hit and miss and just depends on the conditions at that particular time. I don't know if it's about the clouds or atmospheric conditions, but some sunsets are absolutely glorious, some not as much... I have never really figured out why.

My favorite sunset shots were on film. I'll have to dig them out and scan them soon!

Sunrise or sunset, it's all about the clouds.

This is a sunrise last November as it appeared. It was even better a few minutes earlier, but I couldn't get to an exit fast enough. Not much composition either.

These are all sunrises I have caught over the last two years or so. The first two are near my house in Southern Mississippi, near the gulf. The last is in St. Augustine Florida earlier this year.

I think sunset is much easier to take, since it doesn't require me getting up early while on vacation!

Really, it depends on the location of the subject for me. Sunset was perfect when we had a Magic Kingdom view from Bay Lake Tower. But I had to get up early to catch sunrise from the Bay Lake view. Same thing for pictures on the coast. Atlantic side needs a sunrise, the Gulf side needs a sunset!

OMG that HURTS!!!! That is where I am trying to move to later on this year and every day is another day that I'm not there. I was there in March and went to Humiston Park (about 15-20 minutes south of Disney's resort) and tried to get a sunrise shot similar to this. Sadly, no luck. It was cloudy and drizzling when we arrived. But in all seriousness... BEAUTIFUL shot! If you wouldn't mind me borrowing it, just to print off and remind me what I'm working towards, I would LOVE for you to email me the full res picture.
