I have a question about the Sunrise Safari. In another message, somebody wrote about doing the Sunrise Safari. Does anyone know what that is? I would like to get some information regarding this.

Thanks -- Shannon

The Sunrise Safari is an AK thing. You go on the safari ride for a long, slow ride. You get some kind of breakfast also. Its not cheap and its only available to AKL Concierge guests.

We used points, a real stupid amount, for a long weekend AKL Concierge stay near the end of October. We will be going on the Sunrise Safari for sure.....I am loking forward to the breakfast, breakfasts are almost my favorite part of WDW.

I did the Sunrise Safari in May during a stay at the AKL. It was an incredible experience and the highpoint of a fantastic week.

Regards

Oh and the breakfast on the Sunrise Safari is amazing!! It's a special breakfast, only for the guests of the safari - buffet style, with a large, large selection, and there are some things you don't get on any other Disney buffet.

In fact, here - I just found my dining report from last year's trip. It may have changed some, and if so, I can let you know when I get back at the end of July, as we're doing it again this year!

Sunrise Safari Breakfast (held in a private room at the Tusker House, AK)

I'd heard that this was really a nice breakfast .. and I'd sure heard right! It's beautifully presented on a long table and several smaller tables, and the chef came out to give explanations, as well as there being several CM's available should you have any questions during the meal. The items were a mix of traditional American style breakfast foods and some African inspired specialties, and included: minted cantaloupe, pineapple, honeydew & grapes;biscuits & gravy; scrambled eggs with 3 cheeses, seasoned ground beef, peppers & onions; fried eggs with marinated green tomatoes (particularly good!); banana stuffed french toast; corn cakes; fish cakes; bacon, ham, sausage - pork & beef; potatoes with onions & peppers; strawberries; apple cobbler; dried fruit compote; bagels; coffee cake; danish; kielbasa (sp?); cheese & more fresh fruits; french rolls; caraway rolls; coffee, tea, milk, a "wild
orange" juice that was fantastic!, and regular oj also.

I have a few questions, as well. :)

Is the Sunrise Safari on Tuesdays and Thursdays?

How far in advance can I reserve it?

Do I pay with a credit card when I reserve it, or does it go on my room charge once I get there?

How much does it cost per adult?

Thank you in advance for any help that you may offer! :D

The Sunrise Safari is a great tour. We did it on a Saturday morning a year ago when AK was opening at 8:00 AM and as a result we had to be in the lounge by 6:45. Now that AK opens at 9:00 AM, you can evidently sleep an additional hour.

The tour is great. You get to watch the AK staff bring the animals out of their pens into the park and the tour guide will stop the vehicle during the ride for picturs or questions. We stopped and talked to several of the AK docents/handlers who were working with animals (including a vet checking on the crocs.

The breakfast is very good, i.e. similar to the breakfast buffet at Boma but with more pastries and South African french toast.

For more information, you need to call AKL.

Good luck. I am sure that you will enjou this tour.

Queen of hearts - hope this helps

1. Safari is only on Tues & Sats

2. Reserve the sooner the better, it fills up quickly. Sats seem to fill quicker than the tues ones.

3. It goes one your room charge when u get there, or as in my case an addenum becuz we checked out the day of our Safari.

4. The Cost is $50 per person. This does NOT include park admission and you MUST be a guest on the concierge level for the safari benefit.

I just did it on June 29th and it was AMAZING. I'd do it again.

Have fun and take LOTS of film or your camcorder you won't wanna miss a thing.

As if the animals weren't enough, the food buffet at the Tusker house was to die for.
