1. Is this worth the difference over a "normal" Savannah View room? IMHO - YES! We have 5, so we would need a deluxe room anyway - and the AP rates on concierge have been great! You get an awesome concierge breakfast, as well as snacks, hor d'oevres, wine, juice, milk (even chocolate), desserts, etc. We would have spent the difference in room rate for just these items for our family of five. As far as the extra cost for the safari (basically $50/adult, $25/child) - it was well worth it - the guides are incredible - the safari takes about an hour with none of the storyline, just lots of info, and all the animals are being fed, so they are out and about! Then the meal at the Tusker House is better than anything I've had anywhere - delicious food - both African and American style - ham, bacon, sausages, eggs in all different varieties, french toast, stewed fruit - all kinds of casserole things, as well as those infamous Tusker House Cinnamon rolls - much better food than any of the character breakfasts!!
2. Do all of the Concierge rooms overlook the Savannah or just some of them (which would seem really weird)? Actually, just some of them do - the lounge is on the sixth floor - which is only on the lobby section of the building, so some of these have a pool view, but are very convenient to the lounge. Many of the rooms are on the 5th floor - so you need to use your key to access the 6th floor to go to the lounge, but the 5th floor rooms are all savannah view.
3. Isn't the top floor too high up to see the animals well? Don't know - we stayed 5th floor on the Arusha Savannah - while you are a little higher up, we had an awesome view of antelope, zebra and wildebeest at all times. The giraffe stayed further out towards the ends of the loops, so we had to look harder for them, but that was not the room's elevation problem.
4. Does this become "early entry" for that day? IOW, do I have to use a PH "day" for that day, or could we do this and then hang out at the pool all day instead? You do have to have park admission for the day - you check in upstairs at the lounge for your safari info, and they will run your admission media (PH, UPH, AP, etc.) through their computer, which will activate it for that day.
5. Is this only for adults? Or are kids (DS5, DD<1) OK too? Kids are okay - you would have to pay for your son, but I think your daughter would be free. My 6 year old loved it. I don't know how your daughter does. This is a long safari ride - does she tolerate long car rides?
