Sundresses at Disney

9 times out of 10 I wear sundresses to the parks, for me it is much cooler in a sundress than shorts.

I typically wear only sundresses on my trips! I always wear compression shorts etc underneath them so that I prevent any dress fly ups, and also to prevent chafing! I have never had any issues while wearing them!

I love wearing dresses and skirts every day, but I can't imagine how wearing something underneath one would be any cooler than just wearing regular shorts and a tee or tank. The whole purpose to me of wearing a dress is so I have air circulation so my legs won't get all sweaty. :confused3 To me, extra layers means extra bulk around my middle, so I would look like the Michelin man, too. :rotfl2:

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing, that adding shorts would kind of defeat the purpose of the air circulation, so why not just wear shorts in that case? :confused3

That being said, I think the one thing that everyone can agree on is each woman has her own idea/preference for what makes her comfortable. ::yes::

So as PPs have mentioned, just wear what works for you.

I LOVE wearing dresses and skirts to the parks! I feel much more "free" that way and I think they're pretty! the only issue I ever have is that somehow I end up ALWAYS going on space mountain and that's an awkward one to ride in a dress or skirt sometimes haha. I agree with everyone else, go with what you feel comfortable in and you'll be fine :)

I've been wearing the Soybu Tahitian and Nina dresses all summer with the Jockey slip shorts underneath. The slip shorts are so light and comfortable, nothing like the bulk or heat of shorts. The dresses are wick-away with somewhat empire waists--very flattering. They do have built-in shelf bras, but I need a little more support, so I also wear a sport bra. I'm planning on wearing the dresses almost every day of our September trip. They sell these in some stores, but I've been ordering from Amazon, as they offer free returns and have a big selection of colors and patterns.

I would love to wear dresses/skirts on some days, but I'm torn on how I will get it to match with my shoes. Since we'll be walking so much I'm planning on wearing sneakers/tennis shoes but am worried the shoes won't match well with the dress. What do you guys wear for shoes with the dress?

I can't do tennis shoes for the parks. Have tried it and my feet were killing me. I even buy the high end tennis shoes. Can't do WDW in them all day. Teva flip flops are my go to park shoe. Works great with casual dresses.

I posted above about wearing the Soybu sundresses. While I definitely won't look super-stylish, I'm wearing my lighter colored Keens and the Sanuk Yoga Sling sandals. They don't look too bad with the dresses, and, for the most part, will not be present in pictures.

Jockey has a fairly new product called "slip shorts". Will not give any support like Spanx, but very thin to make sure all of you stays covered and prevents chaffing. They are thin enough to not be too hot under something else. I know they carry them at Kohls.

Yes, they're called "Skimmies". They look like bike shorts but are actually cooler. I bought one pair to wear under my summer skirts at work. They're fine when I'm indoors at work, but I found even these to be too hot to wear two layers when outdoors.

I can't imagine wearing two layers (sundress plus bike shorts) in the heat and humidity of Florida. I wear lightweight quick-dry/moisture-wicking shorts at WDW. Very lightweight and cool!

nice idea. I'm bringing my usual Ts and shorts but bringing a few dresses just in case it's so hot I don't care about my comfort levels but not suffocating. I guess this is a lesson to me to continue to eat and love healthy so I can lose more weight and be more comfortable at Disney!

Also, I wear crocs at Disney. I can't wear any other shoe when there! I get blisters in sneakers or having wet socks if it rains.
