From WDW to Universal, how long of a drive is it approximately on a Sunday morning...I want to be there when it opens at 9am!!

Depends on where you're staying since WDW is pretty spread out but if you leave at 7:30am it will give you time to drive, park in the garage and get from the garage to IOA in plenty of time to be close to the front when the gates open.

I am staying at Bay Lake Towers/Contemporary....wow. I didn't think it would take so long...I have an early breakfast and hoped to leave at 8am to get there for 9am opening...

Leaving at 8am would be pushing it if you're trying to get to Universal for opening. I would leave no later than 7:45am to make it all the way to the gates by 9am.

We found that if we left by 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. we were able to get to US/IOA, get parked, get from the garage to the parks and through security and be there for park opening. If we left at 7:30 we were closer to the front than if we left at 7:45.

How close to the front do you need to be? Universal parks are dead 3/4 of the year.

On a Sunday morning US is DEAD. It doesn't pick up until noon...

The OP didn't say when she was going. If it's before HP opens, take your time. If it's after, it remains to be seen, but the answer will probably be different.

It will be BEFORE HP opens...Feb. 28th is when I am going. I hope it is all dead before noon so we can hit the best rides...do you recommend going to RRnR first or later in the day....we will have FOTL but didn't know if RRnR takes it yet..

It doesn't. It's hard to say when to ride it. If it's open right away, that's obviously the best time, but often it's not.

You mention you're going to IOA but you know the HR3 (Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit) is in the Studios right? I just wanted to make sure you knew. The HR3 does not accept Express passes as of now.

Not sure if this helps, but we did the opposite in early Dec. We left the Doubletree at 7:30 and were in the lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge by 8. We were at the entrance to EPCOT after check in and dealing with the luggage by the 9 am opening. I think it's definitely doable for you! :thumbsup2
