Hi everyone! My current date for my wedding is 7/27/13 at Disneyland, which is a Saturday evening (5pm). I'm considering changing my date to 7/7/13, which is a Sunday evening. This date is more convenient for me in several ways... but I'm worried that people will be irritated if they have to go to a wedding on a Sunday evening/night. Almost all of my guests will be coming from out of town. Did any of you have Sunday weddings? If so, how did your guests respond?

Thank you all!

I don't have any experience with Sunday weddings, but my brother got married on a Wednesday, (I know-It was their anniversary from when they started dating so they were adamant about it!) and in Las Vegas (our family ilives in Minnesota). Everyone made it, even though it wasn't convenient at all, but it was a huge success! Now I have two thoughts about Sunday weddings-if you get married on a Saturday, people most likely will be taking Friday off. If you get married on a Sunday, they can just take Monday off instead! But the main thing-YOU are the bride! It is your big day, and you should do what is the most convenient for you. Hey, at least you're not asking them to be there for a Wednesday wedding! :rotfl2:

We are having our wedding on a Monday morning. Every single one of our guests in coming from out-of-town, and nobody seems to mind. Most people are making this into a long weekend/vacation. Do what works for you!!! :goodvibes

we got married on a tuesday. in retrospect i wish we had done it on the monday because i think that would have been most convenient for the out of towners. i think sunday would be fine - are they flying out-of-towners or driving out-of-towners? i ask because people flying in probably will get better rates etc.. leaving on a weekday and they could still leave monday (whereas we made people stay until tuesday or wednesday:eek:) but people driving would probably maybe think they could go home after?

i think as long as you give people lots of notice and keep reminding them (and also understanding when people just can't make it work) its fine! having a weekday wedding enabled us to get married at WDW!

We are getting married on a Sunday. Everyone will be from our of town. We were going to get married on a Monday, but thought Sunday would be more convenient. I just went to a local wedding that was on a Sunday night...I didn't really blink an eye. Saturdays are a premium night and many people who aren't having destination weddings are having Friday or Sunday weddings. I think Sunday is more convenient than Friday, personally. People can just take Monday off.

As far as 7/7...I'd be more concerned about flight and hotel prices since it's so close to 4th of July.

We are getting married on a Sunday morning, with a lunch reception that will go until 4pm......we are also getting married the week before Christmas!!

We proposed it to our guests as an opportunity to take a long weekend to turn it into a mini vacation for themselves and everyone seemed to love that idea! Most of our guests are from out of town as well.

I am getting married on 7/1/12 in Disney World and it's a Sunday morning wedding with a brunch reception. People seem to love it because it gives them enough time if they have to leave the day of the wedding or want to spend a couple days in the park before the 4th or through the 4th. I find that the hotel rates I'm getting are pretty much along the same lines as normal. The flights are probably going to be expensive but you can buy the flights 330 days in advance!

Thanks everyone! I do feel better about it now! I'm hoping that hotel rooms wont be to bad because I will set up a room block for them. I am worried about flights though! However, im sending out my STD a year in advance so I'll cross my fingers that people book early. Most of my guests live 6 hours away from Disneyland, so they could drive if they needed to; I always do!

I got married on a Sunday in WDW. I could have done a Saturday with what I ended up spending but at the time I was trying to be frugal. I originally had a Tuesday and changed it to Sunday. Almost everyone had to travel anyway so no one seemed to mind. They came in either Thursday or Friday and went home Monday.

we had our disney world wedding on a Sunday (mother's day at that). No one seemed to care it was a Sunday. Everyone traveled for the wedding- from Chicago, Minnesota, or CA, so it just ensured one more day for their trip. This way everyone had at least a three day weekend and got to enjoy the fun of Disney a little more. I would highly recommend it

I think a Sunday wedding would be fine! All the weddings I've been to have been on Saturday, but honestly either weekend day would be fine with me (as a guest!) Most people from out of town will probably stay a few days anyway to take advantage of all the Disney fun!
