Hi,
We are going to DL for the first time next week- yay! in the midst of the heat wave- boo! We arrive early Sunday and were going to use that day to get settled in. My parents are going with us & they have some health/mobility issues, so we were thinking about going to DL Sunday instead of Weds to avoid the heat. If we go mid afternoon, do you think the crowds would start to subside enough by late afternoon- early evening to make it worth it? I know the park is open later, so that could be a benefit.

Thanks so much!

We recently returned from our first trip. We were there for just 1 Sunday. DL was pretty tight with lots of people. Pretty crowded. We left after the fireworks so I can't speak for later than that but it was steady full as we left. I hear the crowds don't start to thin until after the fireworks.

When dodging the crazy heat the week we were there we did best after the sun was low enough to hide behind buildings & trees. So if you need a strategy I'd recommend resting while the sun is high and prepare for the late night after the sun starts getting low. It'll be tight the first few hours but it will get better. ;)

It's going to be pretty crowded in the afternoon Sunday. It will start to wind down around 9, around the time of fireworks. After that, most lines will be very manageable for the last few hours the park is open.
