Has anyone here ever attended the Sundance Film Festival? I'd like to hear about your experience, please!

Alot of the tickets are VIP or are hard for us to get into. BUT i's a fabulous Party in Park City and usually you can see at least one! Park City is a quaint yet upcale city and is famous for it's resorts, food, and shopping! You'd LOVE it! Plus you are guaranteed to hob-nob with big movie stars! While youre there visit one of the awesome spas for a treat! And visit Rockey Mountain Chocolate Co. for THE best caramel apples! Sorry, I just go for the fun not the films, but GO!

Thanks for the response! Some good friends and I go on a "girl's trip" each year, and next year we'll be celebrating our 40th b-days--so we need to do something really cool and fun. I was looking at a mountain resort/spa (Sundance), when I got the idea to go at Film Fest time. I think it would be a lot of fun, and very different!! We are going away for MLK weekend, and I want to tell them all about it -thanks again.

Anyone else?

It is great fun BUT the tickets sell out wicked fast! I mean some of them within minutes and most within a couple of hours. People stand in line for hours just to get A ticket. They have packages but the cheapest one is about $300 per person and that gets you a weekend pass to any movie during that weekend but you have to be in your seats at least 15 min before the show starts.

To get tickets as a package deal you need to register online and it's usually in September when they open registration. Once you register for a non-refundable $5.00 fee you will receive an email of what day your particular registration is set for. Registering very first on the first day gives you NO advantage over someone who registered last. Quantities of tickets are extremely limited and just because you have a date and time does NOT guarantee you will get even one ticket.

You can buy individual tickets but they are done exactly the same way as the packages just later in the year. The individual ticket emails just went out this last Friday and then in 2 weeks they send out the email of when and where to purchase your tickets. Same deal...no guarantee that you will get even one ticket.

Living here as a local we don't even get a break on getting tickets. It's the same deal for us. Honestly it's such a pain in the butt we won't even attempt it. The films are shown not only in Park City but also at Sundance Village, Ogden and SLC.

We have gone up to Park City during the Film Festival and walked around and have seen some celeb's but we don't even attempt getting tickets.

Getting lodging IN Park City will be difficult as well. It is a very small town and since it's done during the high peak winter season you have to contend with not only festival goers but also skiers. You can stay in SLC which is about a 45 min drive if the weather is good and getting rooms down here is much easier you'll just need to rent a car to go back and forth.

If you have any other questions let me know. My dh was a film major in College so he went a lot. Personally as a local it's just too cold and too crowded for me! ;)

Hydster - Oh my..that sounds way to complicated and risky for what's supposed to be fun Girl Getaway!:goodvibes . I think I'm just going to suggest going to the Sundance Resort at some other point in time during the year. Thanks for the input!

My DD and her fiance are going in about 10 days for this year's festival. I told her just to have fun and realize that it will be like WDW at Xmas time. I also told her that she will have to tell me all about who she sees. They are renting out a 3 bedroom condo in Park City with 2 other couples.

Sue -
Did your sister get tickets in advance?

Will you please pm me when she gets back and let me know how it went for her? I still think it would be SO cool...but I don't want to plan a 40th
b-day getaway that turns out to be a bummer!

Thanks
