Sorry, I know that's a dumb question, but we're obviously not needing it now in November in VA, but will we need it in Orlando in December? (I have no idea if we have in the past, but with a kid, sunblock has become much more important! :))

Historically, the UV index is "moderate" in December according tothis site.

Orlando, Florida, United States
UV (Maximum) Index 4 (Moderate) in December

You can find out more about the UV index here:
http://www.epa.gov/sunwise/uvindex.html

3 - 5: Moderate

A UV Index reading of 3 to 5 means moderate risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure.

* Take precautions, such as covering up, if you will be outside.
* Stay in shade near midday when the sun is strongest.

Me and My Shadow

An easy way to tell how much UV exposure you are getting is to look for your shadow:

* If your shadow is taller than you are (in the early morning and late afternoon), your UV exposure is likely to be low.
* If your shadow is shorter than you are (around midday), you are being exposed to high levels of UV radiation. Seek shade and protect your skin and eyes.

In short, I would recommend using sunscreen. :)

Not to be a nag, but you should wear sunscreen any time you're outdoors. You can get UV damage (or even a sunburn!) even on a cloudy day.

Thanks for the reminder! We do, actually wear 15 every day, I was just meaning more of higher spf's for higher uv days. I think we're good with our norm for normal low uv days in the winter. :)

A few years ago I took my eldest son and his daughter to WDW in early January. I insisted on putting sunscreen on myself and my grandaughter. My son insisted he did not need it. However, he is not used to wearing shorts and while his face and arms were fine, he got a pretty bad sunburn on the backs of his legs. He learned he is never too old to listen to momma.:rotfl:

FYI: I usually go to WDW several times a year and at least once during the winter months. I always take Neutrogena with Helioplex spf 70 (or even sp 85 during the warmer months). Of course, I live in the south (Texas) and know I sunburn easily, so am not willing to take a chance.

I say anytime you are out in the sun put that sunblock on. Better to be safe than sorry!

sun screen. The cooler weather can fool you. It doesn't seem too hot but at the end of the day you have a sun burn.

Always wear it, my color guard instructor always told us that if you can see the sun it can see you so you HAVE to wear sunscreen.

I think people think that because it's winter you don't need it because it's not warm but in FL you should always have it on.
