Sun Wheel in DCA-noone said it was the SCARIEST ride in both parks!!

we just got back from DL DCA :cool1:
had a fantastic trip

just had to say
we rode the sun wheel
and were SCARED OUT OF OUR MINDS

we were on one of those that REALLY went back and forth
we could see that it did it from the ground
but MUCH different than being up in the air
and having NO idea *when* it was going to happen...
one time we REALLY felt like it was going to flip over
(w/ no seatbelts!)

anyone else have a similar ride?

it was so bad
we asked to get off after one go around!!!

MWoD is one of your most favorite rides in the park. So I have not read all the posts but really have never that type of experience.

I RIDE EVERYTHING AT PARKS. SIX FLAGS, HERSHEY, BUSCH GARDENS. LOVE ROLLER COASTERS. SOME DO SCARE ME BUT I LOVE THEM ALL THE SAME.

I went on this with dd, 17, and was worried about her as she isn't crazy about chair lifts/skiing ect. I freaked. She had me closing my eyes, talking about nonsense to me and doing yoga deep breathing until we could get off. I am much heavier than her so I think the swing? may have been exaggerated??? no ideas but I will never ever go on Mickey's Death Wheel again

The swinging gondolas can induce a temporary form of vertigo. You can't logic away vertigo any more than you can logic away any other form of motion sickness. :scared1:

Whoa, blast from the past thread!

I think it's interesting how 99% of people seem to be absolutely terrified by the "Wheel O' Death", yet somehow still after all these years the swinging gondola line is always ridiculously longer than the stationary line. So much for word of mouth!

You have a bigger chance of dying or being maimed in LA traffic than being hurt by the MWoD. But people still drive.. I do not understand.

I have personally never rode it due to my dad's fear of hieghts and no seat belts. but it looks fun and my friends love it. Although, one of my friends rode it with her sister and they videoed it as proff that it could really flip over. they were sitting on the ceiling hanging on the the seats above them. its on facebook somewhere.

Welcome to the boards and another round of why MWoD scares people.

You are totally correct but most of the people posts are talking about fear not vertigo. I can not imagine vertigo causing fear.

Callie, what goes around comes around no matter what in life it is.

Haha this post cracked me up. They don't call it "Mickey's Wheel of Death" for nothin! There is no way I'd get on that ride. Sorry you had to learn the hard way!
