Sun Wheel Deja Vu?

Is it just me, or isn't the Sun Wheel Ferris Wheel at the new park exactly like one that used to be (maybe still is) at Coney Island, N.Y. about 50 years ago (oops, just spilled the beans on my age range). It had the same swinging gondola car setup as Sun Wheel.

According to the Disney publicity I have read, it was based on that wheel. Similar, not the same.

A ride based on one from NY for a park that is suppose to represent california. That is kinda odd don't you think?
