Sun Pass mini transponder

Has anyone been able to set up an account to use the Sun Pass mini transponders on a rental car with a Canadian address.

I guess you can buy them in many stores for $4.99 and then you set up an account on line, but not sure it will work with an out of state address.

We are heading to the Florida Keys and I understand south of Miami the tolls are cashless.

This article says Canadians can, but I have also read you cannot.

From Nova Scotia and have had an account for several years. Last year we didn't even have to put $10 on it as we had enough of a balance to last this trip. No problem with a Canadian address. Very convenient. Publix and CVS pharmacies have them.

We rent with National and just use the Sun Pass lane and they invoice us later. This is much more convenient than slowing down for the tolls and having change.

I would check with your rental company.

I think they used to charge $2/day to a max of $6 to do this but I do not remember getting this charge the last few times.

There probably is a fee built in one way or another but it seemed reasonable.

We have a sunpass transponder and it is linked to our Canadian credit card. Our CDN address wasn't a problem at all. You can call them and ask any questions.

We also have a sunpass transponder and use it all the time for rentals. Think it was $25 initially (bought it at Publix) and then we loaded it $10 at a time. No problem with Canadian Credit card or Canadian address.
You just have to remember to sign in and put in your rental car dates and license plate on your file and make sure you have it on your windshield. We forgot once and drove through the sunpass lane-rental company charged us $1.25 for the toll and $15.00 admin charge.
