I have a silly question. I am not at all scared of roller coasters, I scuba dive, snorkel, have water skied etc, BUT I'm scared of water slides. DH and I want to try some anyway, to see if I could enjoy a Disney (therefore "safe") water slide. Is it so horribly scary? Oh and DH wants to know what type of swimwear is the most wedgeproof? Hee hee.

Thanks for the replies!

Hi,

My DH and I have tried both of the water slides you mention. I was unable to avoid a "wedgie" on either of them. Boy were they fun, though! We did Humunga Kowabunga five times in a row, and each time I was laughing hilariously as I tried to stand up at the end. Summit Plummit was rather intimidating once you're at the top, and after we did it once, we were ready to move on to another, less thrilling slide.

SeashoreCM and Dode: Thanks for your comments! We'll definitely start with smaller slides.

I've avoided Summit Plummet for the past ten years, but finally got the guts to ride it. As you walk up the stairs, it's gets intimidating..but once you're on it and you are actually at the bottom of the slide, you realize it wasnt' as bad as it looks. It's fun, and is over before you know it. I keep thinking that I can't believe I waited ten years to ride it only to find out that it wasn't so bad afterall!. You may want to try the smaller slides first and work your way up, but I'd definitely reccomend it. It sounds like you would be able to handle it if you've water skied, do roller coasters.

Thank you for your wisdom Mark. There are things in life I waited too long to do as well. Looking at it that way, what have I got to lose? I don't want fear to prevent me from having fun. I will start small and work my way up though. :teeth:

Depending on where you're staying, your hotel may have a small water slide for you to get started on - try the one at your hotel if it has one first.

Next, at TL, you'd want to try the storm slides - this is probably your best bet to be introduced to water slides. They are twisty slides, without any big drops - these are my DH's favorite slides, and we spend most of our time at TL on these slides.

You may also want to try Crush "N" Gusher at TL - a water roller coaster, though everyone says "keep your butt up" (something about the rollers they use to propel you up hills, I think).

TL and BB both have some nice inner tube slides too - family, one or two person slides - those tend to be less twisty and less fast than a body slide, so you may want to give those a try as well.

If you like roller coasters, and you SCUBA dive, you should really like most water slides - just start small (with the storm slides), and work your way up!

Summit Plummet isn't so much scary as it is uncomfortable. I would suggest shorts (to avoid the atomic wedgie), and a close fitting t-shirt to prevent the feeling of little daggers stabbing you all over the back - that's how it felt when the slide started to curve. The water is rushing so fast, it just doesn't feel to good. But the ride itself is a rush - just protect yourself!!

Jill: Thanks for your suggestions. I think we'll be at POR and I think they have a water slide (I know FQ does anyway). Doing the SofG thing and have to wait till they are full to get to overflow into POR again.

Then, we will def try the storm ones and inner tube ones before the biggies :goodvibes

I can't wait :Pinkbounc
