Summer's Planning Journal 08/20 Update 08/10/07

Your new dress sounds gorgeous! How exciting that you found it so quickly and it only needs minor alterations! I can't wait to see the pics of you in it! I know you will be a beautiful bride!:bride:

As for the bridal shop, I can't believe they went on holiday and never mentioned anything to you about it, knowing you were having problems with your dress. :sad2: That is just bad business. I agree with the poster that said you should write them a letter that they'll receive when they get back, but you will be gone. Let them worry a little until you get back from your honeymoon!

Congratulations on the weightloss! You are doing amazing!!! :thumbsup2

summer, I cannot believe the trouble you have had with your initial dress, it did look lovely in your photos, but obviously you know what it should have looked like, and you are so right, the dressmaker shouldnt have to take the bones out to tweak the top. I am so pleased that you managed to find a perfect dress at short notice, I know they say everything happens for a reason, but sometimes thats hard to believe!!!
can't wait to see the "new" dress photos and I really hope you have no problems getting a full refund on your return. Congrats on the extra weight off too ( it's probably all the worry about the dress LOL )

Summer...I was hoping you had gotten on to give us an update. I feel like your Mom and all worried about this situation with you! I so want this day to be perfect for you and am praying all has worked out with the new dress. Please let us know ASAP! :bride: (I think I've checked your thread 20 times today while I'm working!!!) ;) (My DD is getting married on the 18th, so this whole situation is really hitting a little too close to home for me!)

Sorry girls for keeping you waiting. Although I didn't get any pictures as I forgot my phone, my dress fitting went perfectly:goodvibes She had loosely stiched the hem and off the shoulder straps and they were perfect. I stood in my dress for about 40 minutes, and the dressmaker said she didn't want me to take it off, she said it truly was a fairytale dress. I realised just how much I loved the dress as I kept twirling about:) I have definately found 'The One'
As I promised pictures, I have asked my mom to come over on Tuesday morning before our hair appointment and take some pictures of me in the dress. I wish I could find a pic online but because it's discontinued there isn't one available.
Thank you girls for all your support on this, I feel so happy and positive now that things seem to be falling into place.
The only thing I am now looking for is a cathedral length veil. I tried one on in the store and I loved it, but at $200 for a plain veil it seemed so expensive. I am going to look for another one on Monday.
I will be sure to update you all on how I got on.

Glad to hear everything is working out for you! Good luck with finding a veil and congratulations on the weight loss! :cool1:

You must be soooo excited!:yay:

CarolAnn.

Summer, I am thrilled for you!!! I am so glad it is all working out so well! I feel like I can breathe easier for you knowing how happy you are! :bride:

I am assuming that you are still using the tiara, so can you buy tulle for the veil at a fabric store and make it? It isn't hard to add a comb to the tulle and put a rolled hem in it. Costs ALOT LESS than $200!!!

Summer: I'm so glad you found a dress you love! Congratulations!! See, its a sign that everything will work out beautifully!

Just a thought re: the first dress shop, now closed for holiday...on any of the documents do you have a name? Did the manager give you a business card, or sign her name to a paper? I'm just thinking you could look them up and see if I couldn't reach them by phone at home. I can't believe that they could toddle off on vacation knowing they'd left you in a lurch. As a professional person, how could they look themselves in the mirror?

But the bottom line is really: you've found a better dress, and you know you'll eventually get your $ back on the first...I know you need the cash now, but unless you can reach someone, it seems a bit out of your control.

And  for Raspberry Bubbles coming to your legal aid!!

Beth

Summer, I mostly lurk on these boards but I've really enjoyed reading your PJ....and I am so excited for you this week as your wedding approaches! Best of luck!

Alright Summer - I'm de-lurking to post. I've been following your journal since the beginning and I'm so sorry for all of the troubles you've had with the dresses. BUT, I sooo glad that you finally found the ONE :cool1: and I'm excited to see the pictures as soon as you can take and post them.

Summer - when is it you go? Can't wait to hear all about it - I'll be checking the boards every five minutes when you get back!! lol When is that btw - just so you know - I can pop it in my calender :rotfl2: You are going to have a fab time. Are you all packed? Kx

Thanks girls for all the support and enthusiasm you have all shown as my wedding approaches. We leave tomorrow and I still have so much to do.
I only picked up my dress and veil today so I haven't had the chance to take any pics. Unfortunately Steven will be the only one here tonight and as he cannot see my dress, I don't know if I can do it myself. It may have to wait until my TR which I feel terrible about. I had hoped my mom could have taken pics but we have been running behind all week. I can however take a pic of the dress on the hanger, but it would be so time consuming to put on my hoop skirt and dress when it is really all packed to go. I haven't even started packing my suitcase yet, talk about unprepared!!!
We leave 8.30am to catch the train to Glasgow and our flight isn't until Thursday morning. We arrive in Orlando at 2.05pm Thursday and our first meal is at 'OHanas.
I have been feeling nauseated all day, and it's beginning to annoy me, I managed to eat, but I feel so sick, certainly not in the mood to pack. I am really excited but I feel overwhelmed with all the stuff still to do.
Anyway, I'd better sign off, I hope to post at least once while I am in Disney just to say Hi.
Thanks everyone for making this planning journal a joy to write, it makes me so excited for my TR when I return and I promise it will be filled with loads of pics and plenty of details, you all know me by now, I can certainly ramble on.

I will post pics of my dress, I will go and take some now.

Have an amazing trip, and I just know your wedding is going to be absolutely beautiful.
