I am no stranger to using an ECV at WDW. I have never visited during those of so hot and humid months, since having to use an ECV to navigate the parks. We are going in early August, which means, it's going to be extremely hot, very humid, and most likely we will have an afternoon shower daily. We know that we need to keep hydrated, use sunscreen often, carry a mister fan, and travel light. This will not be a pin trading trip. I refuse to wear a lanyard around my neck if I am going to sweat that bad.

I will be renting a scooter, most likely from Walker again. I am curious as to how I should arrange to cover the scooter if I am off of it and it rains. I am thinking that I should bring something to cover the seat with so that my legs don't fry when I sit down after riding something and the seat is flaming hot from sitting in the sun. What else am I missing?

What tips do you have to share for keeping the Disney parks magical while you are sitting on a scooter in those summer months?

TIA

A white towel comes in handy for covering the chair--or sitting on when you get too sticky. Often just folding the seat down when parking it keeps it from getting hot.

Sunscreen the inner thighs!!!!!!! not just the front the legs. Sit down and then look at the skin that is pushed out--if you weigh a lot (like me) it's not a pretty sight ;) and all that skin needs sunscreen.

As far as rain--we buy a children's poncho and use it to cover the seat and battery area--Walker provides the "shower caps" for the key console. (But a large ziploc baggie will also cover it.) NOTE ON THE PONCHO; if driving the ecv you must make sure the poncho is off/not near the wheels.

I haven't yet figured out how to attach those fans like on strollers and don't like those huge sunshades that some ecv's have--hard to see out the sides, hard to manuver on some buses, blocks other people's views, etc. Wear a good hat -- you'll get better coverage.

Other than that the mister fan, sunscreen etc is good. Also--toss a couple of the disposable ice packs into the pocket of the chair. If you get too hot just pop and apply!!!!

Don't forget to put sun screen on your hands. The knees as well as the thighs need protection. When wearing a poncho don't sit on it. Drape the back over your seat so the rain doesn't run down and get you wet.
Freeze water bottles so they melt during the day.You can also use it to cool off like an ice pack. If I have to leave my ECV outside I use a poncho to cover it. I slip the arms through the arm openings to secure it. I always bring a white towel. to sit on or cover my legs.
Another thought is the back of my neck got sunburned so I make sure I use ss there. On really hot days I'm happy when the forecast is partly cloudy!
Have a great trip.

Thanks for the tips. :goodvibes

Anyone else have anything to add?

I never wear shorts preferring light long pants.
Sunscreen the tops of your feet. Large beach towel over entire seat and back.

I am pooh sized and usually wear light weight long, like down to or just below the knee shorts. I have in the past suffered some knee sunburn and some hand sunburn, but since I learned that lesson the hard way, it has not been forgotten. ;) As for my feet, I am one of those super geeky people that wear short socks with my Chaco sandals. I know that it looks super silly, but it is very comfortable and I have no issues with sunburned feet doing this.

We are planning to bring a cooler with us with several prefrozen bottles of water inside. We also plan on bringing our own beach towels for our trip over to TL, but we have some super huge one's that will probably be perfect for covering the scooter with. I will need to stop by the Dollar Tree store for some kid sized ponchos. We have many adult sized ones already.

I wish it was time for vacation already.
