Now that my son is starting college, it looks like we may have to start visiting during the summer again. One thing I noticed on my last summer trip (it was August 06) was that the pools at SSR were like bathwater, and not at all refreshing. I am wondering if the same holds true for really large pools like Storm Along Bay and the pool at AKL. Can anyone tell me if these pools are really warm in the summer?

I never thought a thunderstorm was nature's way of cooling the pools....but it is.

I arrived on 8-23 to YC it hadn't rained for over 10 days.....the pool was beyond bathwater....felt like the hottub.

Then it started doing the nightly short thunderstorm.....well let me tell you that the pool felt soooooo much better after that....actually felt refreshing.

If it does not rain....the pools will be warm.....they don't "cool" them.

I will second alldiz--last year we were at YC from 8/9 to 8/13 and the pool water was very warm. The temps were 90s every day outside so it was still cooler than the air, but when you jumped in there was no "aaahh" moment. We've been in July and June and never had pool water that warm.

I guess then the key is to go earlier in the summer, more rain, and water is cooler. Thanks!
