Does anyone want to take a wild guess as to park hours this summer? I will give 10 internet points to the closest winner :) I'm looking specifically at the first week of June, but I imagine they will be pretty consistent from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I'm trying to plan and it is driving me absolutely bananapants that I don't even know what time the gates will open. #TypeA

I’m going to put my money on 8am-midnight for DL and 8am-10pm for DCA.

10 internet points, heeeere I come!
Alright, lol. Now I have to come back and actually remember to make the award once Disneyland EVER posts the hours. Seems like so far we have unanimous (all two!) votes for an 8 am opening.

I wonder what the turnstile open time will be and what rope drop will look like - this isn’t current info, but it was ~30 minutes before official open time.

Other variable = what rides are running in the first hour

They don't... they don't all run in the first hour?! Oh good grief. Does that information get posted anywhere?

Admittedly, I'm a little bit more extra than most in the planning department, but it's so frustrating that it seems like the planning for a DL vacation is on par with, like, an amphibious landing if you want to keep up, but the information you need to actually DO that as a first-time visitor is lacking. Oh well. I'm doing the best I can, I guess.

Toontown usually opens an hour after park opening if the park opens at 8am. That’s the only thing has a regularly scheduled later opening.

Thanks! The boy is too old for Toontown now I think. He will be 7 1/2 at the time of travel and discovered thrill rides over the summer 🙂 I struck Toontown from the itinerary in favor of, like, Indiana Jones. Which is great for me 👍

So here's sort of what I gathered and experienced (again, might be out of date now, might be out of date later). Official park time is 8am - gates are usually 7:30am? I think they are holding people now at rope drop at the hub right up until 8am (someone please confirm). Prior to that, they let us roam, and actual rides were up and running before the official start time.

In any case, not everything is up and running right at 8am. ROTR is the (in)famous one that is usually not running right at the start. I've seen Peter Pan take another 15-20 mins to get into gear, so if you're a PP family, it still might be worth waiting in line that early knowing that the lines are long all day (or save for 11:55pm).

Anecdotally, I've seen people say HM sometimes isn't ready, either. That was one of the rides we rode 30 mins before official park open last year, oddly enough.

I would start reaching out in late May for trip reports about what is working and what isn't -- or stalk the app at 8am pacific time to see what's running or not. You might just have to hit the ground running (speed walking) and make snap decisions based on what you see. Augment with G+/LL.

They reinstated traditional rope drop back in mid June I want to say. For the first 1.5 months of park reopening they let you go straight to the rides.

Thanks! Yeah...we slept in last month, no rope drop experienced (it's almost like we're back to normal, we are most definitely not a rope drop family).

We love ToonTown and even the mini teen likes it. Thrill rides are great, but there is a lot of fun back there too.

Thank you, and I hope I didn't sound disparaging. I got mixed reviews on ToonTown when we were originally planning this trip (pre-pandemic). Based on the comment above, it looks like it will be closed for our trip in any event, but perhaps that will be a reason to come back :)

There are a lot of people who are thrill riders and they tend to avoid ToonTown. We are more laid back and tend to enjoy the details. Sadly, my favorite place (Five and Dime) in Toontown was closed to make room for the Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railtrain, set to open in 2023.

Ahh, I'm sorry to hear about Five and Dime. Are you at least hoping to enjoy the new ride?

My son has turned into a little thrill-seeker. Finally achieving 48 inches was a big moment for him, haha.
