Summer Nightastic or Craptastic

So,
On behalf of all that are visiting the DLR this summer, I apologize.

I was at the resort last night and Fantasmic should be canceled until the dragon is up and running. Seeing Maleficent standing up there with fire makes no sense, it is a real let down. So, I am sorry visitors.

The new fireworks just don't cut it. There is nothing Magical about it, except for Dumbo which is cool. Wishes, will be back at the end of summer thank goodness.

However, the new electric parade was great!!!

Ummm.... there is a lot more to Fantasmic! than just the dragon. Yes, it is AMAZING with the dragon and is definitely missing something without it, but the show is still incredible. The princesses/princes dancing... The pirate ship duel, Mickey facing off with Maleficent, Pinocchio, the dancing monkeys, watching the river ignite, seeing characters we love and adore on the Mark Twain. It's a great show, made better when the dragon is there.

And, ummm, Wishes does not exist at DLR. Are you a WDW regular? The previous fw show at DL is Remember Dreams Come True. Wishes is from WDW.

- Dreams :wizard:

At $12 a piece, no one in our group got one! :sad2: But they were really cool looking.

Holy Guacamole!! I didn't ask the price but I took a cool little video of them. It wasn't planned, just a good timing moment.:)

We watched Magical on this Thursday and I didn't see Dumbo. Lots of Tink flying back and forth but no Dumbo! Boo!

When we took the backstage tour last weekend, the CM said that they were shooting to have the dragon working in Fantasmic by the July 4th weekend. Let's hope so.

I expected the new fireworks show to be toned down after RDCT and got what I expected. So I wasn't disappointed; in fact, I enjoyed the show. It's a lot shorter than RDCT and you can tell there aren't as many spectacular pyrotechnics. But they seem to be handling crowd control better than the predecessor. Remember, the old show will return anyway.

Well, having never seen any Fantasmic I thought it was pretty cool--but I'm tall ;) However, I wish I had known that the dragon was not up and running because DS5 sat on the ground and refused to let us hold him or even stand up because he did not want to see the dragon (weird phobia for a kid who thinks skeletons are "awesome.")
It did seem like Maleficent was doing a dress rehearsal standing in for the dragon--guess that's exactly what she's doing.
It's definitely not good enough to waste half your day holding a spot imo. Glad lots do though because we walked onto Pirates and Haunted Mansion nightly 1 hr before show time.

Glad I am not the only one disappointed by magical. And man...got goosebumps with you all mentioning the show that preceded RDCT. I loved that show as well!!!

Haven't seen the ELP yet but will in a few weeks. I am excited! I loved that as a child and haven't seen it in a few years now.

Magical was ok...but I am sort of over RDCT, especially since they made a bunch of cuts to the show. I'd love it if they brought back Believe.

Fantasmic wasn't terrible without the dragon...it would've been cooler if he'd been there, but it didn't ruin the show for me. I did not like some of the added effects. They were too cheesy.

What's with the light show at Pixie Hollow? We didn't see anything and I didn't find it on the schedule.

Still need to go see the electric parade. Will probably do that next week.

I THINK the light show was every 15 or maybe 20 minutes? We arrived to watch it at 11 PM and it did start a few minutes late for some reason, but it occurred. Since I'm guessing it's fully automated, I'm not sure there would be much reason to put it on the schedule, but it would be nice to say the intervals. There's not much to it so maybe they didn't want to put it on the schedule and face more complaints.

Especially if they're actually being swamped by complaints about the fireworks, which are much better than the Pixie Hollow show. ;)
