We cleaned the pool and lowered the water level. They are coming to close it tomorrow. :sad2: I still have my summer clothes in my closet however. Maybe if I leave them there all winter it won't snow.

And I won't tell you it's going to be 86 here all this week.
Of course, I have no idea what "closing" a pool is. Don't think anyone around here does that, even when it's too cold to swim.

Our pool has been closed for a month, but the winter clothes haven't come down yet. Nice thing about a September in Connecticut is you really don't have to do much back to school shopping. One nice new outfit for the first day and they are back in shorts for the rest of the month.

While I really do the love the fall...I hate that summer is ending! There are certain things I can't get used to. I just hate wearing more clothes. Right now I have two long sleeved shirts on and I am going crazy! My long pants feel like they are strangling me. (Still got my bare feet, however, and it is a SAD day when I must cover them up).
Don't even talk to me on the first day I have to turn on the heat. :sad2:

I'm in CT also, Dawn, and I had to scrape ICE off my car windows this morning. I'm not in the quiet corner or Litchfield hills, either. Actually, we're in a valley. ICE!!!! I was traumatized, I tell ya.

Yep!

We already had to turn the heat on a couple of nights. What a drag. (Today it was 80 degrees! That's Michigan for you! :sad2:)

I wait until the absolute LAST minute before I really "break everything down" for winter.

I DID clean out my closets and drawers, taking summer things downstairs, and bringing winter things upstairs. ( had to go down today to get some summer things! :rotfl: )

I was planning on taking down the deck furniture next weekend.

My husband put the glass back in our back door, but we have yet to bring the glass upstairs for the front door.

I REFUSE to cut back my flowers (now mostly just foliage, aside from the mums and daisies, and potted annuals). I will wait until after Halloween, unless snow threatens.

Tell me about it.. Dropped down to 29 degrees here last night!

I went out to the campfire with my Dson-in-law for awhile - felt bad that he was sitting all alone (my DGD spent the night elsewhere and my DD was already in bed with a wicked migraine), but I can tell you that I didn't last long out there at all - even with a few layers of clothes on..

It was nice today though - got up to about 66 degrees..:goodvibes I think tonight we're only going to drop into the 40's..

And, I guess you don't want to know that it is sunny and 83 degrees at 5PM here in Tucson. And that it's going to be sunny and high 80s/low 90s all week, and that we are at the beginning of a stretch of the most beautiful weather anywhere. October through May in Southern Arizona consists of eight months of sunny, dry, near perfect temps. Love, love, love it!:cool1:

It is our reward for suffering through four months of the hottest weather you'll find anywhere. Okay, Phoenix is usually a few degrees hotter than here, but I don't really see much difference between 105 degrees and 112 degrees.

I know what it's like, though, to close up the pool, bring the outdoor furniture inside and prepare for the oncoming winter weather. I shudder just thinking about it.:)

In New England, pools have to be closed properly (winterized) or a lot of damage can occur to the pool over the winter. Water has to be lowered well below the tile line. If the water is left at tile level, it can crack the tiles. All water has to be blown out of the pipes and end caps put on. Winterizing chemicals have to be added to the remaining water in the pool and a winterizing cover (usually mesh held in place with heavy-duty springs and screws embedded in the concrete around the pool) is placed over the pool.

Same here Dawn. Pool was closed today. :( Fall cleaning around the property was started. I cant remember the last time I saw so many acorns everywhere! The upside is that we will be in Florida Thursday! I really hope its warm!:) I do love Fall but mourn the ending of Summer.

And I say good riddance. Bring on the GOOD weather!!!!!

Officially, summer came to a close on September 21st. :confused3

Summer came to a close here Labor Day weekend when we put away all the outdoor furniture and closed the family pool in anticipation of Hurricane Earl, the hurricane that never did:thumbsup2 I spent those rainy days the following week pulling out the fall clothes and decorations:sad2:

I am so NOT ready for cold weather.

And I shouldn't tell you that the September equinox happened about 3 weeks ago. ;)

... although somebody else mentioned that already.

No "fall" here in Orlando area...was pretty warm yesterday...getting close to the 90's, and some of the humidity is returning...we had a tease last week when the low in the morning was 58!! I broke out my sweatshirt..it smelled so fresh and clean..LOL...now its tossed in the back of the car...waiting on the next cool snap..

Hopefully the weather cools a bit for HOS this week..

Phoenix is still in a heatwave...92 yesterday...but our nights are cooler...low 70"s...

the grass on the lawn is growing slower adn we are done swimming...the pool gets below 80...we are done;)
but we will keep the patio furniture out until it starts to get really cold at night...not till Dec prob....

We are ready for Fall...which in Phx is 80's...oh we love the 80's. awesome weather

Our pool temps dropped below 80 last week. We're pretty much confined to the hot tub now. I will miss swimming, but I'm so glad that summer is over.

I think mine is in the 60's. If you get up early, you can see the "steam" rising over it or the fog. The pool is cold, the air is colder.

We have a screened in porch that we practically live in while it is open. I find it SO hard to admit that the warmer weather is ending and I have to put everything away. Ugh....
