Does anyone have tips on keeping someone cool in their wheelchair in the summer at disneyworld? My DD doesn't regulate body temp very well. I was thinking some kind of cold pack system could be rigged up, any ideas?

I don't know much about them, but when someone on here told me about cooling towels, I was searching online and saw cooling pads for people in wheel chairs and strollers. we are heading down for our first summer trip this aug and purchased generic brand cooling towels at Five Below. I think the brand named ones are frog toggs or something like that. we are going to give it a try.

I saw a frog togg today for the first time. My DN had one. It was really neat. It had been in her hot car and she brought it in and wet in and within minutes it was cold. She said it would stay that way for hours and it does not drip all over you. Would be perfect over the shoulders of someone in a wheel chair.

I have 2 hand held airconditioners for my son. He has a convaid cruiser and they fit over each handle nicely. I can position them with their straps to blow direct air on him.

We have the Convaid rodeo. Where did you get those?

Blessedmom4 had suggested this one on my PTR. However, she said that her daughter's broke almost right away. So we bought two. One of the Original Handy Coolers and a generic one that just said hand held air conditioner. She has the same type of cruiser that we had and it worked perfectly with our handles. http://www.amazon.com/Small-Fan-Min...7327&sr=8-1&keywords=handheld+air+conditioner

Oh and we paid $50 for the brand name one and $10 for the generic. I cannot tell a difference in the quality of it at all, except for the sponge on the inside.

Several years ago I took a relative to Disney who was sure she could handle the heat. Of course, as soon as we got there, she was in distress. Luckily, she had worn a gauzy shirt over her tank top and we just kept the shirt wet all day. We'd stop and get it wet, wring it out and she'd put it back on. Worked like a charm. The evaporation from the shirt provided a cooling effect on her skin. She kept her hat dampened, too.

So,e other posters have mentioned cooling vests. You might so a search and see if you can find the brands.
