DDD with DDD - or - Doing Disney Different with Darling Disney Daughter
Part 7 Day 6 Thursday 24th July Wedding Anniversary, Inventions, loads of characters and lots and lots of fun (and cocktails)
Once again we were woken by Goofy ready for another fun filled day. Today was our 26th wedding anniversary so we had loads planned including a meal at Inventions.
We set off for EMH and decided to catch the bus as we were feeling quite tired. We reached the park about 8.10 and then saw one of the main street buses about to set off. We got the last 3 seats and so saved our energy a little bit more.
The first ride we headed for was Peter Pan which we then rode again. We also rode Dumbo, Pinochio and the Carrousel then headed to Discoveryland where we rode Buzz twice and Orbitron. I hate Orbitron. I think it goes so fast and feels as though it is tilting too much. Im convinced Im going to fall out. I didnt really want to do it but suggested it to DD thinking DH would take her on then he turned round and said he didnt want to go on so hed let me take her on instead- Thanks darling!!!! I made DD promise not to go high which she wasnt too happy about give me TOT anyday.

Anyhow I survived- just!!!!
To recover we went to explore the castle and of course had to go upstairs to give a royal wave.

It was then time for our 9.45 GMF breakfast which again was at Chalet des Marionettes. It was much quieter than earlier in the week and there were loads of empty tables.
When we had finished and went outside we realised it was going to be yet another very hot day. By now the park was open fully so we headed over to Adventureland to ride POC. We then walked back through to Fantasyland to ride Snow White and Small world. Just as we were going to go onto Small World we spotted quite a few characters including Tigger near Belle Notte so went to see who we could meet but unfortunately they were about to go so we didnt get photos with them or autographs but DD got a hug from Rabbit (from Winnie the Pooh).
We wandered up to Small World and there wasnt a massive queue but it was chaos. I think it was a new CM in charge of loading the boats and she didnt seem to be able to cope. There were 2 queues loading into different boats but she couldnt seem to get the timing right in asking how many people and directing them to the boats. Some boats were leaving empty. At one point the person on the other side who was operating the boats was shouting across and directing people. It didnt help as there was a very large group together but they hadnt kept together in the queue and so were waiting for each other and pushing through. A lady who was obviously with them a tour guide? was not riding but was waiting at the other side and was trying to shout instructions to them and at one point stepped into an empty boat, crossed the river and got out on the queueing side and started trying to organise them into the boats. I dont think the poor CM knew what to do. We were watching this from the queue and thinking by the time we get to the ride it wil be oK as the big group will be gone so shell be back in control again but no she was still loading haphazardly. The good thing which came out of it was that we that we ended up with a boat to ourselves.
We got off the ride and noticed there was a different CM loading.
Excellent timing as there were another lot of characters just arriving. There was an orderly queue for Gaston ( we couldnt work out who it was at first) so joined that. He chatted to DD asking her name and where she was from. He then kept asking if shed seen Belle as he was looking for her. We told him she was probably with the Beast and so he commented about not knowing why as the beast was ugly and hairy and he was much better looking. It was really good interaction and he told us to tell Belle he was looking for her.

We then also saw the Mad Hatter who also chatted away to DD and the Queen of Hearts.

By now it was really hot and the characters were going in so we sat in the shade outside Belle Notte watching the world go by and waiting to see if any more characters appeared but they didnt.
We decided to head back to the hotel and do some shopping on route on Mainstreet and in the Village. DD bought an Eeyore bag she had had her eye on and we also bought some bits as prezzies and a T shirt for DD.
We got back to the hotel and decided to have a sandwich in our room. DH went to buy 2 from the bar (DD and I were sharing) and we went back to the room. However our room hadnt been serviced and as we got to the room mousekeeping arrived to do it. We didnt fancy sitting there while they were doing it so we went back down stairs and sat out on the balcony terrace at Sequoia but it was very hot and there were a lot of wasps so we moved yet again to sit inside near the bar area at the tables.
It was good choice because as we were eating who should appear but Pluto. There was no one else about in that area so he spent ages with us. He tried to pinch my sandwich and then pinched DDs drink. DD had a sun hat on so he took that off her and put it on himself. He then put it on backwards trying to be trendy and started dancing. He then got DD to dance as well.

After wed finished our sandwich DH went back to the room to have a rest while I took DD to the indoor play area for a while. There were 2 CMs there doing face painting for children. DD wanted hers done but we were intending going swimming again so it wouldnt have been practical. However I then gave her the choice to go swimming or have it painted and she chose to have her face done. We stayed for a while longer then went back to the room to chill for a while and watch TV.
We had a reservation at Inventions tonight and intended going back into the park afterwards so we just had a lazy afternoon and did some packing as we were leaving the following day.
We got changed and because we were feeling lazy we caught the shuttle bus again. We had a look round the shop in DLH and then went into the Fantasia bar and ordered cocktails before our meal. DH had a cocktail with champagne and rum? and I had one with Chambord wine as we had stayed at Chambord last year for our Silver Wedding trip and had our anniversary meal in the grounds of the Chateau de Chambord so I thought it was significant.

We were the first people into Inventions when it opened and were shown to our table. We had a wonderful meal and I have done a fuller report on the Inventions thread. We love the food here- there is so much choice and it gives us chance to try so many different things that we wouldnt normally order.
We left the restaurant feeling absolutely stuffed. So much so we just collapsed onto the chairs in the lounge area and sat watching the world go by for a while.
We then moved down stairs into the reception area and sat there for a while watching the world go by again. We also decided we would definitely stay here on one trip maybe next time, maybe the trip after, maybe next year but sometime. Youll just have to watch this space to find out when we do it but we will.
We decided to go back into the park and headed first for POC which we rode twice. We then went across to Frontierland to ride BTM again twice - for the last time this trip.
DH really wanted to watch the fireworks again but DD and I were so tired we just didnt fancy waiting then being caught up in the crowds leaving the park and having to walk all the way back (Now if wed been staying in DLH it would have been easy).
We left DH and we made our way up mainstreet. When we reached the top by City Hall Fantillusion was about to arrive. DD decided she wanted to stay and watch it so we found a spot to watch. We left the park as soon as it had finished along with lots of others but when we got out we noticed that most people were heading into the Village or into the train station and not many were going towards the buses so we went to wait for a bus back to Sequoia. We had expected it to be really busy but it was almost empty. The bus also stops at New York and as we were leaving New York we could see the fireworks over the castle.
We got back to our room and finished the rest of the packing and flopped into bed ready for another early morning.

The good thing which came out of it was that we that we ended up with a boat to ourselves.
We got off the ride and noticed there was a different CM loading.
Excellent timing as there were another lot of characters just arriving. There was an orderly queue for Gaston ( we couldnt work out who it was at first) so joined that. He chatted to DD asking her name and where she was from. He then kept asking if shed seen Belle as he was looking for her. We told him she was probably with the Beast and so he commented about not knowing why as the beast was ugly and hairy and he was much better looking. It was really good interaction and he told us to tell Belle he was looking for her.

We then also saw the Mad Hatter who also chatted away to DD and the Queen of Hearts.

By now it was really hot and the characters were going in so we sat in the shade outside Belle Notte watching the world go by and waiting to see if any more characters appeared but they didnt.
We decided to head back to the hotel and do some shopping on route on Mainstreet and in the Village. DD bought an Eeyore bag she had had her eye on and we also bought some bits as prezzies and a T shirt for DD.
We got back to the hotel and decided to have a sandwich in our room. DH went to buy 2 from the bar (DD and I were sharing) and we went back to the room. However our room hadnt been serviced and as we got to the room mousekeeping arrived to do it. We didnt fancy sitting there while they were doing it so we went back down stairs and sat out on the balcony terrace at Sequoia but it was very hot and there were a lot of wasps so we moved yet again to sit inside near the bar area at the tables.
It was good choice because as we were eating who should appear but Pluto. There was no one else about in that area so he spent ages with us. He tried to pinch my sandwich and then pinched DDs drink. DD had a sun hat on so he took that off her and put it on himself. He then put it on backwards trying to be trendy and started dancing. He then got DD to dance as well.

After wed finished our sandwich DH went back to the room to have a rest while I took DD to the indoor play area for a while. There were 2 CMs there doing face painting for children. DD wanted hers done but we were intending going swimming again so it wouldnt have been practical. However I then gave her the choice to go swimming or have it painted and she chose to have her face done. We stayed for a while longer then went back to the room to chill for a while and watch TV.
We had a reservation at Inventions tonight and intended going back into the park afterwards so we just had a lazy afternoon and did some packing as we were leaving the following day.
We got changed and because we were feeling lazy we caught the shuttle bus again. We had a look round the shop in DLH and then went into the Fantasia bar and ordered cocktails before our meal. DH had a cocktail with champagne and rum? and I had one with Chambord wine as we had stayed at Chambord last year for our Silver Wedding trip and had our anniversary meal in the grounds of the Chateau de Chambord so I thought it was significant.

We were the first people into Inventions when it opened and were shown to our table. We had a wonderful meal and I have done a fuller report on the Inventions thread. We love the food here- there is so much choice and it gives us chance to try so many different things that we wouldnt normally order.
We left the restaurant feeling absolutely stuffed. So much so we just collapsed onto the chairs in the lounge area and sat watching the world go by for a while.
We then moved down stairs into the reception area and sat there for a while watching the world go by again. We also decided we would definitely stay here on one trip maybe next time, maybe the trip after, maybe next year but sometime. Youll just have to watch this space to find out when we do it but we will.
We decided to go back into the park and headed first for POC which we rode twice. We then went across to Frontierland to ride BTM again twice - for the last time this trip.
DH really wanted to watch the fireworks again but DD and I were so tired we just didnt fancy waiting then being caught up in the crowds leaving the park and having to walk all the way back (Now if wed been staying in DLH it would have been easy).
We left DH and we made our way up mainstreet. When we reached the top by City Hall Fantillusion was about to arrive. DD decided she wanted to stay and watch it so we found a spot to watch. We left the park as soon as it had finished along with lots of others but when we got out we noticed that most people were heading into the Village or into the train station and not many were going towards the buses so we went to wait for a bus back to Sequoia. We had expected it to be really busy but it was almost empty. The bus also stops at New York and as we were leaving New York we could see the fireworks over the castle.
We got back to our room and finished the rest of the packing and flopped into bed ready for another early morning.
