DD – Charys (8)

After yesterdays episode after Café Mickey we decided not to dash into the park for the beginning of EMH but to get there for our GMF at 9.45.
The original plan for this holiday had been to do EMH most mornings then have lazy afternoons then back into the park for late evenings however we had realised that although that worked last year this year we were going to find it difficult to cope with late nights and early mornings so had decided that however much we love EMH for the empty parks we would rather have some late nights to be able to do things like BTM in the dark etc.
We had asked Goofy to wake us at 8.30 and it took several attempts to wake DD. Once ready we headed for the park and got there just in time for breakfast. It was very busy in Chalet des Marionettes and they weren’t finding a table for you like they did at Easter. Eventually we found a table and did our usual trick of leaving DD there while we found the food. DD still didn’t want to eat much so we didn’t push her but she did enjoy the yoghurts.
After breakfast we went right to POC where we were able to ride twice in a row as the queues were still so short they were only loading 1 boat at a time – the 2nd time we had the boat to ourselves. We then wandered over to Frontierland where we got FPs for BTM (2 lots with the EBay passes). Whilst waiting for FP time we decided to do PM. This isn’t one of our top favourite rides but we enjoy doing it at least once each trip. There was a bit of a queue but it wasn’t too bad and was moving quickly so we decided to wait as it was shady and there was plenty to look at. After the ride we wandered round the grave yard bit then went back to BTM to ride twice with the FPs. DD survived this was no signs of a repeat of yesterday so we decided she was fully recovered and were thankful it had just been a short blip.

DD really likes Indiana Jones – the films – so had wondered whether to try the ride this time. Shes not too keen on upside down coasters but loves BTM– she tried both RRC and Crush last yr I wouldn’t even try them – so we went to have a look at it to decide. When we got there she decided she wasn’t really that bothered but enjoyed looking at the IJ stuff in the shops near there.

We wandered towards Fantasyland via Adventure Isle and the Wobbly bridge as DD calls it. It was a really hot day again and we really wished we could get right under this.

<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="359" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img288.rockyou.com/photofx/33/33230/33230525/33230525_07fd719f1218379180.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=359&imageWidth=452&instanceid=33230525&userid=9422703&createDateString=Aug%2010%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=13C70&c=1&id=33230525&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link2.php?refid=33230525"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo2.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=33230525"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>

We stopped in Fantasyland to get some popcorn then went to do Small World.
After this we walked to Discoveryland to do HISTA – once again it was hard to hear through the headphones with the French commentary being so loud.
DD then wanted to do Nautilus so we checked this out and made sure the giant octopus stayed outside.
We then went to sit in Discoveryland arcade near the entrance by Plaza gardens for a drink. It was really hot and close and we wanted to sit somewhere in the shade but with some air as well. The plan was to see the Mary Poppins show so after our drink we browsed in some shops at the top of mainstreet. DD seemed to have regressed into being a baby again.

<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="628" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img347.rockyou.com/photofx/33/33230/33230566/33230566_1ed8e78b1218379274.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=628&imageWidth=452&instanceid=33230566&userid=9422703&createDateString=Aug%2010%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=13C70&c=1&id=33230566&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link5.php?refid=33230566"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo5.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=33230566"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>

We weren’t sure of the best place to stand to watch Mary Poppins but there was only one section round the band stand with any shade so we went and stood there to wait. I took DD across to the photo shop to let her listen into the telephone conversation and then she took DH to show him what we’d found.
Whilst waiting for Mary Poppins to arrive the Character Express drove by and we got a lot of waves from the characters.

We then heard the Mary Poppins music and looked towards the gate and saw the penguins arriving, then the other dancers, then Mary and Bert themselves. They parked their vehicles at the opposite end to where we were and walked into the bandstand. We really enjoyed the show. Afterwards they all came out of the bandstand to have pictures taken – Mary and Bert were the opposite end to us but then started walking round the band stand. As they reached where we were DD went towards them with her autograph book but Mary pointed to where she was going to stand further round so DD dashed over to the spot. She was one of the lucky ones who managed to get an autograph but there was no chance of a good photo as it was a real scrum.

We then browsed in a few more shops and went to do the Aladdin walk through to fill in time before our reservation at Agrabah.
We thought we had booked this for 4.00 (we had been told it only opened again after lunch at 4.00) but when we looked at the reservation slip we had it was booked for 4.30. When we got there it was about 10 to 4 and we were really hungry but it was obviously open as there were people eating in there so we went to see if we could get in early and there was no problem. They asked if we had vouchers and then told us which drinks we could choose from with the vouchers. We were then shown to our table. The restaurant is really lovely and well themed inside. We went to explore the buffet and found a fabulous selection of food for all 3 courses. DD had seen some children with ice lollies for their desert but when we got there for desert the freezer was empty. We asked one of the chefs if there were anymore and he went to check. He then came back to say there weren’t any left but they would get some more and he’d bring us one when they got them. I thought he’d forget but in about 5 minutes whilst we were still eating the rest of our desert he came looking for us with one. I’ll post a fuller report and pictures on the restaurant website but we really enjoyed it and would definitely eat there again.

After a wonderful meal we decided to go back to the hotel for a rest/sleep. DD enjoyed watching Hannah Montana on TV and making dens in the corner. I then took DD for a swim while DH had a bit more sleep. One reason we had booked Sequoia Lodge was to be able to have an afternoon swim. The pool was lovely – there was a slide which DD loved and a Jacuzzi which I loved. It was nice being able to swim from inside to outside and the water wasn’t cold at all. In fact it was really warm outside where the sun had been on it. There were floats, balls and basket ball hoops in the water so we messed round for a while then used the cocktail purchase to get DD out again.
We went back to the room to collect DH, got changed and went down to the bar. This time I remembered to write down which we had but we didn’t take photos of them – I had Autumn leaves, DH had the Cedar wood and DD created her own concoction of apple juice and grenadine in yet another shaker.
We then decided to head back into the park to watch the fireworks again from nearer the castle. We were just going out of the hotel when we bumped into Robin Hood by the doors between the 2 restaurants. He was quite happy to stop for a photo then he headed into one of the restaurants.

When we arrived in the park we headed straight for Frontierland to ride BTM. There was a bit of a queue but it wasn’t too bad and the longer we waited the darker it would be. We eventually got on and it was brilliant. If you haven’t guessed by now I love this ride and its even better in the dark. Of course as soon as we got off DD and I both wanted to do it again but DH decided he didn’t so he went to get a coffee while DD and I rode again. The queue was really short now and by taking the left hand lane where it separates we bypassed a lot of the queue – this has happened to us on previous trips as well because most people tend to take the right hand lane. DH was surprised how quickly we were off again and we almost sneaked a 3rd ride in but didn’t.
We wandered towards Central Plaza which was getting a bit quieter as Fantillusion had just finished so lots of people were heading towards the top of main street. We found a place to stand in the road and watched the shortened version of Candlebration and Enchanted. Again it was brilliant and much better than the other night as we had a fantastic, almost uninterrupted view.
When they had finished we joined the crowds in heading for the exit. Most people were heading up main street so we ducked into Liberty arcade and headed out that way. It was busy in there but not as busy as main street. Back through the Village, round the lake, into the hotel and into bed.

Coming soon - part 6 - Studios, more rides and more cocktails

Another busy day. I'm glad your DD was feeling better:thumbsup2

Sounds like another great day, glad your DD was feeling better.

Another fab day - glad your DD is better. BTM is so much better when its dark!!

You have my sympathy- my DD did exactly the same thing last night at 3.00am:sick: !

Just hope she doesn't do it again while we're there - gonna need all the sleep I can get with the park opening hours and EMH!!

Loving your TR!!!

Glad DD was back to ful strength. IJ is the one ride I would never mind missing - the themeing around is good but the ride itself is so unimaginative and to me almost a copy of the crappy old turbo on brighton pier!

Sounds like a fun trip!! Glad your daughter was feeling better.

Another good day- Loved the picture of Panoramaique!

Bob xoxoxox

What a fabulous day and I totally agree about riding BTM in the dark, my favourite ride!

Sounds like another fab day. I'm so glad our daughter was better.
Can I ask what you mean by the phone conversation in the photo shop? Is this one of those secret 'things'?

Yes its one of the parks secrets - in the photo shop there is an old fashioned phone on the wall opposite the counter and if you lift it up you can listen in to the 'conversation'

Another funfilled day. You get loads done - I only hope I can too next week when I go with my DD(6). Unfortunately, we are only going for 1 day. More great photos too.

Am really enjoying your trip reports & pictures so far!! Glad your DD was feeling much better too.

Glad DD was feeling better, nothing ruins your holiday like feeling ill.
