Part 4 Day 3 Monday 21st July - EMH, Sequoia Lodge, Café Mickey, Tea party (or not!!!)

We were checking out of Explorers today and moving to Sequoia Lodge for what should have been the start of our holiday had we not gone mad and added 2 extra days on. However we had decided to make the most of EMH and go into the park early, do an hours rides, go to Sequoia to book in and then return to Explorers for breakfast and check out.
I cant eat first thing in the morning so the thought of breakfast at 7.00 to get in for EMH is the worst thing imaginable. Ive said it before but Ill say it again theres nothing like an hour EMH to build up an appetite.
As we walked (Ok, skipped and danced) down a reasonably quiet Main Street we discovered we had been joined by a furry friend who had jumped out of DDs bed to join us on our adventures.

We headed towards Peter Pan first which we rode twice. This was the first time we had been on it since we got stuck at Easter so it was a bit strange seeing it again knowing what its like with the lights on.
We then strolled across to Dumbo which again we rode twice. The first time DH and I shared an elephant while DD rode on her own and the second time I persuaded DD to let me in with her so DH could manoeuvre with the camera better. Winnie the Pooh really liked this ride.

Next it was time for the tea cups which again Winnie choose to ride however DH chickened out as hes not too keen on spinning. Winnie threatened to spin it really fast but I persuaded him not to or he might regret it.
He liked this ride and also enjoyed the Carrousel where he decided to share DDs horse in case he fell off his own.
Just before we headed out of the park Winnie checked to see if he was the future King but no - he wasnt. He tried very hard to get the sword out but it wouldnt move.

As we walked through the castle we saw another Main Street vehicle about to set off back up Main Street a paddy wagon. We asked if we could get in and the driver was surprised that we wanted to go back to the entrance at that time of morning everyones coming the other way. We climbed in the back and as we were on our own we decided to really play along with being in Police custody. We were holding onto the bars saying let me out/ help . There were lots of people heading into the park and they were all looking at us and some were stopping to take photos. I think they thought we were part of the entertainment. At least I hope thats what they thought and didnt think wed been arrested for kidnapping or should that be bear napping.

Outside Annettes the 2 hardened criminals tried to steal a car but couldnt manage it.

We walked up to Sequoia Lodge to book in forgot to say we parked there that morning rather than New York. It was a quick procedure to book in and we were given our half board vouchers, tea party vouchers for that afternoon. We asked about GMF and managed to get them for every morning 9.45 slots which is just what we wanted. We also booked a late breakfast in the hotel for the last morning.
Whilst booking in we noticed Goofy in the lobby so went for some photos with him unfortunately they didnt come out very well as the flash didnt work.
All this done and we hadnt even had breakfast yet so we decided it was time to head back to Explorers for breakfast and to check out. Again breakfast was very enjoyable and afterwards DD went for a last play in the play area whilst DH and I enjoyed a last coffee/tea. We packed up our belongings, said goodbye to Explorers and drove back to Sequoia, parked the car, walked through the hotel to get out the other side and who should we bump into but Winnie the Pooh. Gosh hes grown since he was in the park with us earlier hasnt he?

We decided to walk round the lake the other way past Newport Bay as we had an hour or so to kill before our Café Mickey reservation. We strolled round and noticed how hot it was getting. It had been really warm that last 2 days but today seemed a real scorcher. We reached the Village and looked in a few shops. DD saw a few bags she liked a High School Musical one and an Eeyore one but we decided not to buy anything yet but wait and see what else we saw.
We then went into Café Mickey. Weve only ever had breakfast here before so were looking forward to our lunch. We had the character tea party booked for later that day and had had a latish breakfast so decided to just have one course. We had the half board plus vouchers which we knew could be exchanged for 25 here so a main and coffee would be about right.
Ill also write a report on the restaurant thread but we had a great time we had only just sat down when Prince John appeared quickly followed by Donald, Eeyore, Mickey, Pluto, Mickey again, Minnie, Gepetto, Chip, Dale, Goofy. They just kept coming and all before we had even had any food. Minnie saw that DD had a Mickey tea shirt on so blew it a kiss and then did the same to her autograph book when she saw Mickeys signature. Several characters came back to the table more than once and disappeared a few times when birthday cakes appeared.

DH and I had The Little Mermaid salad (Smoked and fresh salmon) and DD had the childrens meal of meatballs with pasta.
DH and I then opted for the Café gourmand which was a coffee with a few taster desserts and DD chose the childrens dessert buffet. We had a great time and had really enjoyed our meal. We got the bill but had trouble working out how much we owed. We had shown the vouchers and dream AP but the bills seemed really confusing. We knew what wed had added up to 25 exactly but had also had drinks and we couldnt remember what DDs voucher was worth. It seemed to list different reductions and things but there was no final total. The waiter saw us confused so came to help us work it out- it would be a lot easier if they actually had on the bill what you actually owed rather than having to do Maths which I hate at the best of times.
Anyhow we got it sorted, paid the amount owed for drinks and excess on DDs and then noticed DD sitting very quiet. We then heard those dreaded words I dont feel well. At first I thought she was joking as shed been fine a few minutes ago but she said it again. We quickly dashed out of the restaurant through the new covered veranda area as we knew there was a door open there. We just got outside and youve guessed it
Poor DD- shed had a great time until then. We decided later though that it was partly caused by too much excitement.
After sorting her out we decided to go to Sequioa Lodge to see if we could get our room- it wasnt far off 3.00 so we hoped this would be OK. We walked slowly back and she seemed Ok. We got to the hotel and DD and I found a seat to sit on while DH went to sort the room. Unfortuately we had to wait a while as there were a lot of people trying to book in. Eventually we got the room and headed up in the lift to room 5279. We had booked a lakeside Montana room and after reading about what had happened to Torsie we werent sure what type of room wed get but it was lovely. It was on 5th floor and had a good view over the lake. We could see the balloon, the Village, Tower of Terror and DLH.
DD lay on the bed and we had a cup of tea then we all decided to have a relaxing few hours watching TV and resting. We had decided wed better not risk the tea party in just over 2 hours as more excitement and more food werent the best thing. It was a shame as it was the only meal wed actually paid for in advance (it could have been worse we might have paid for something more expensive like Buffalo Bills) DH went down to reception to see if they could cancel it for us and either refund or perhaps change it to a different day but they said wed have to go to City Hall or phone Disney Direct for that. We are going to write to try and get it refunded but arent holding out much hope.
After a few hours she seemed fine so we had a walk round the hotel and went to see what the pool looked like. We didnt think it was a good idea to go in now but wanted to see where it was for tomorrow. As DD seemed OK we then decided we would walk back to the park to try and watch the Once upon a Dream parade. We took it slowly and found a place in the shade to sit outside City Hall. We had quite a while to wait but didnt mind as it was nice in the shade and we could just people watch. The parade was as wonderful as ever and it was nice to see it from a different place as weve nearly always watched it from near Small World and never from this end of the route. Woody and Jessie got off the float to dance near us.
We then decided to risk a few gentle rides so went on Small World first then Story Book ride. We then decided we could risk POC as well.
By this time DD had decided she was a bit hungry so we went and sat at the tables in Discovery Arcade and got Croque Monsieurs (DH and me) and Mickey Pizza (DD).
We then wandered back to the hotel to flop into bed. At 11.00 we discovered if we looked out of the window at an angle we could see the fireworks from our room. DH stood and watched them but DD and I decided we were too tired to be bothered.
Wed had a great day despite the unfortunate episode.

As we walked through the castle we saw another Main Street vehicle about to set off back up Main Street a paddy wagon. We asked if we could get in and the driver was surprised that we wanted to go back to the entrance at that time of morning everyones coming the other way. We climbed in the back and as we were on our own we decided to really play along with being in Police custody. We were holding onto the bars saying let me out/ help . There were lots of people heading into the park and they were all looking at us and some were stopping to take photos. I think they thought we were part of the entertainment. At least I hope thats what they thought and didnt think wed been arrested for kidnapping or should that be bear napping.

We walked up to Sequoia Lodge to book in forgot to say we parked there that morning rather than New York. It was a quick procedure to book in and we were given our half board vouchers, tea party vouchers for that afternoon. We asked about GMF and managed to get them for every morning 9.45 slots which is just what we wanted. We also booked a late breakfast in the hotel for the last morning.
Whilst booking in we noticed Goofy in the lobby so went for some photos with him unfortunately they didnt come out very well as the flash didnt work.
All this done and we hadnt even had breakfast yet so we decided it was time to head back to Explorers for breakfast and to check out. Again breakfast was very enjoyable and afterwards DD went for a last play in the play area whilst DH and I enjoyed a last coffee/tea. We packed up our belongings, said goodbye to Explorers and drove back to Sequoia, parked the car, walked through the hotel to get out the other side and who should we bump into but Winnie the Pooh. Gosh hes grown since he was in the park with us earlier hasnt he?

We decided to walk round the lake the other way past Newport Bay as we had an hour or so to kill before our Café Mickey reservation. We strolled round and noticed how hot it was getting. It had been really warm that last 2 days but today seemed a real scorcher. We reached the Village and looked in a few shops. DD saw a few bags she liked a High School Musical one and an Eeyore one but we decided not to buy anything yet but wait and see what else we saw.
We then went into Café Mickey. Weve only ever had breakfast here before so were looking forward to our lunch. We had the character tea party booked for later that day and had had a latish breakfast so decided to just have one course. We had the half board plus vouchers which we knew could be exchanged for 25 here so a main and coffee would be about right.
Ill also write a report on the restaurant thread but we had a great time we had only just sat down when Prince John appeared quickly followed by Donald, Eeyore, Mickey, Pluto, Mickey again, Minnie, Gepetto, Chip, Dale, Goofy. They just kept coming and all before we had even had any food. Minnie saw that DD had a Mickey tea shirt on so blew it a kiss and then did the same to her autograph book when she saw Mickeys signature. Several characters came back to the table more than once and disappeared a few times when birthday cakes appeared.

DH and I had The Little Mermaid salad (Smoked and fresh salmon) and DD had the childrens meal of meatballs with pasta.
DH and I then opted for the Café gourmand which was a coffee with a few taster desserts and DD chose the childrens dessert buffet. We had a great time and had really enjoyed our meal. We got the bill but had trouble working out how much we owed. We had shown the vouchers and dream AP but the bills seemed really confusing. We knew what wed had added up to 25 exactly but had also had drinks and we couldnt remember what DDs voucher was worth. It seemed to list different reductions and things but there was no final total. The waiter saw us confused so came to help us work it out- it would be a lot easier if they actually had on the bill what you actually owed rather than having to do Maths which I hate at the best of times.
Anyhow we got it sorted, paid the amount owed for drinks and excess on DDs and then noticed DD sitting very quiet. We then heard those dreaded words I dont feel well. At first I thought she was joking as shed been fine a few minutes ago but she said it again. We quickly dashed out of the restaurant through the new covered veranda area as we knew there was a door open there. We just got outside and youve guessed it
Poor DD- shed had a great time until then. We decided later though that it was partly caused by too much excitement.
After sorting her out we decided to go to Sequioa Lodge to see if we could get our room- it wasnt far off 3.00 so we hoped this would be OK. We walked slowly back and she seemed Ok. We got to the hotel and DD and I found a seat to sit on while DH went to sort the room. Unfortuately we had to wait a while as there were a lot of people trying to book in. Eventually we got the room and headed up in the lift to room 5279. We had booked a lakeside Montana room and after reading about what had happened to Torsie we werent sure what type of room wed get but it was lovely. It was on 5th floor and had a good view over the lake. We could see the balloon, the Village, Tower of Terror and DLH.
DD lay on the bed and we had a cup of tea then we all decided to have a relaxing few hours watching TV and resting. We had decided wed better not risk the tea party in just over 2 hours as more excitement and more food werent the best thing. It was a shame as it was the only meal wed actually paid for in advance (it could have been worse we might have paid for something more expensive like Buffalo Bills) DH went down to reception to see if they could cancel it for us and either refund or perhaps change it to a different day but they said wed have to go to City Hall or phone Disney Direct for that. We are going to write to try and get it refunded but arent holding out much hope.
After a few hours she seemed fine so we had a walk round the hotel and went to see what the pool looked like. We didnt think it was a good idea to go in now but wanted to see where it was for tomorrow. As DD seemed OK we then decided we would walk back to the park to try and watch the Once upon a Dream parade. We took it slowly and found a place in the shade to sit outside City Hall. We had quite a while to wait but didnt mind as it was nice in the shade and we could just people watch. The parade was as wonderful as ever and it was nice to see it from a different place as weve nearly always watched it from near Small World and never from this end of the route. Woody and Jessie got off the float to dance near us.
We then decided to risk a few gentle rides so went on Small World first then Story Book ride. We then decided we could risk POC as well.
By this time DD had decided she was a bit hungry so we went and sat at the tables in Discovery Arcade and got Croque Monsieurs (DH and me) and Mickey Pizza (DD).
We then wandered back to the hotel to flop into bed. At 11.00 we discovered if we looked out of the window at an angle we could see the fireworks from our room. DH stood and watched them but DD and I decided we were too tired to be bothered.
Wed had a great day despite the unfortunate episode.
