After our busy first day we had decided to try and take things a little easier today. After all we had booked these extra 2 days to relax in before hitting the parks in a mad way. We hadn’t expected to do many rides but had ended up doing loads the day before.
We had booked breakfast for 10.00 so had a lie in. We went down to breakfast expecting it to be empty but it was still really busy. Who are all these people who go to Disney and hang round having breakfast at 10.00?!!!!!!!
Breakfast is very similar to the Disney hotels – bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, jams, ham, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, selection of drinks. After several Disney trips we have got the breakfast off to a fine art. We find a seat, leave DD there, DH goes to collect a tray of bread, croissants etc, I go to collect a tray full of other eatables then DH goes to get drinks. It works well for us as we are not all trying to get everything.
After breakfast DD wanted to play in the play area in the hotel so she did that for a while then we got ourselves ready to head into the park. We parked at New York again and DD asked for a turn on the quad bikes that are outside. There was one place left for the next turn so she was soon off. She did very well driving round the track apart from one Lewis Hamilton moment when she went into the ‘wall’ in a spectacular fashion- she was trying to take the corner too fast and ended up redesigning the track. I think I’ll keep my car keys locked up for a while yet!!!

We wandered through the Village and decided to call into Café Mickey on route to make a reservation for lunch the next day. We had half board plus vouchers for the next few days and had booked all our other restaurants before we went but hadn’t booked anything for the Monday as that was the day we were meant to arrive so we weren’t sure what time we would arrive and had thought we would probably eat at Annettes as we always do on our first day. Anyhow as we’d already eaten at Annettes we decided to try to get into Café Mickey for lunch- we have never eaten here apart from breakfast so again it was to be something different for this holiday. We had the character tea party booked for 5.30 so had decided we would just go for one course rather than a full meal. Reservation made for the following day we concentrated on that day and made our way into the park at approx 12.00. DH called into City Hall to check all our reservations were OK for the next few days and get reservation numbers. DD and I wandered up Main street browsing in the shops. Next stop was then Frontierland to get some FPs for BTM. We breathed a sigh of relief when the Ebay FPs worked again and so we would be able to have 2 turns again. This is the only ride we really use FP for as we do Buzz and Peter Pan in EMH and don’t ride IJ or SM.
FPs in hand we went over to Woodys round up area where we could see Woody waiting. We joined the queue but soon after Woody disappeared – so did half the queue. We stayed put and within a few minutes Jessie appeared.
<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="628" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img342.rockyou.com/photofx/33/33156/33156730/33156730_6d3a78da1218227545.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=628&imageWidth=452&instanceid=33156730&userid=9422703&createDateString=Aug%2008%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=13BA8&c=1&id=33156730&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link4.php?refid=33156730"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo4.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=33156730"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>
Photos taken and autograph gathered we then headed over to join the queue for the Tarzan show. Again this was something new for us as we’d never seen this show before. We enjoyed it and thought some of the acrobatics were amazing but still prefer the Lion King Show – we love the film and the music from this anyhow so it’s a real favourite that we could watch over and over again.
Hunger had set in so we decided to get something from Cowboy Cookout. It was really busy and we had difficulty finding a table – we left DH to wait for the food whilst DD and I went in search of one. DD had the childrens meal of Mickey shaped burger and DH and I had non Mickey shaped burgers. We’re not sure why but for some reason we got 20% discount with our dream AP here rather than the normal 10% - well we’re not complaining. It was the first time we had eaten here and enjoyed it- the food was tasty.
By now it was almost time for our FPs just time to browse in a few shops first. Im not sure why but we ended up with just the 3 of us in a carriage – only 2 rows of seats used so had to use the opportunity for a fun photo as we’d developed the habit of doing on this ride.
<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="359" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img373.rockyou.com/photofx/33/33156/33156252/33156252_0da9a1d61218226811.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=359&imageWidth=452&instanceid=33156252&userid=9422703&createDateString=Aug%2008%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=13BA8&c=1&id=33156252&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link10.php?refid=33156252"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo10.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=33156252"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>
We then had the 2nd lot of FPs to use as well so of course had another turn. I just love this ride now. We always have loads of fun on it and end up getting off laughing and being really silly -how old am I? 4? - it really brings out the child in me. Of course we had to then get more FPs for later on in the day- 2 lots again.
We wandered through Adventureland into Fantasyland as we realised we’d not yet done our namesake ride- altogether now – “It’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all...”.
We rode this and Storybook ride then decided to go for an icecream at Fantasia Gelati. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed them watching some characters near the gates – sorry I cant remember who we saw as we were just in a chilling, people watching mood.
We then headed to Discoveryland to watch the Lion King show – we were quite early but wanted to be certain of getting in and getting a good seat so after the chaos at Easter and our disappointment at Christmas we had decided we would rather get there early and just sit and wait. A couple of other families had had the same idea as we weren’t the only ones waiting. It was worth it as we got on the 2nd row by the aisle so were in the right place when Timon and Nala came into the audience. DD was thrilled when Nala shook her hand and Timon did too. DD then kissed Timon so her kissed her back.
<table style="border-collapse:collapse;"><tr><td colspan="2"><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/photofx.swf" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="lt" width="452" height="359" wmode="transparent" flashvars="imgpath=http%3A//img347.rockyou.com/photofx/33/33156/33156662/33156662_bba656f71218227421.jpg&glitterp=false&roundp=true&sepiap=false&theme=&shadowp=true&bevelp=true&width=452&height=359&imageWidth=452&instanceid=33156662&userid=9422703&createDateString=Aug%2008%20%2708&username=%7E" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer "></embed></td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:0px;background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="left"><img src="http://apps.rockyou.com/dot.gif?w=PF&d=13BA8&c=1&id=33156662&=.gif"><a target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/link/link10.php?refid=33156662"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/new_tail_logo10.gif"></a></td><td style="background-color:#fff; padding:1px;font-size:0px; filter:alpha(opacity=60);-moz-opacity:.60;opacity:.60;" align="right"><a style="padding-right:0px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/photofx/create.php?widget=photofx&src=emcr?refid=33156662"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/images/tail_create.gif"></a></td></tr></table>
As I mentioned earlier we love this show and could watch it over and over again.
By now it was again time for our FPs on BTM so we went back to Frontierland to ride it again and then of course again.
We then decided to head back to the hotel as we had done all we had set out to do – Tarzan, Lion King and a few rides. When we got back to the hotel we had a rest and then went for a swim – again enjoying dodging the water guns etc.

We had noticed the Smugglers Tavern bar at Explorers had a happy hour (2 for 1) on cocktails so we had to go and try them didn’t we? All in the name of research you understand, to compare with actual Disney ones. We had a Tequila Sunrise and DD had some kind of non alcoholic one (again 2 for 1 so we got 2 and shared the spare one). We then decided to test the pizzas from the hotel so got 2 to share and took them back to the room where we had a makeshift picnic and then flopped into bed by 10.30 ready for another fun filled day in the parks and moving hotels.
Coming soon – part 4 – EMH, Sequoia Lodge, Café Mickey, Tea party (or not!!!)
Part 3 – Day 2 Sunday 20th July - More park fun, more characters, 2 shows and more cocktails

We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed them watching some characters near the gates – sorry I cant remember who we saw as we were just in a chilling, people watching mood.We then headed to Discoveryland to watch the Lion King show – we were quite early but wanted to be certain of getting in and getting a good seat so after the chaos at Easter and our disappointment at Christmas we had decided we would rather get there early and just sit and wait.

Coming soon – part 4 – EMH, Sequoia Lodge, Café Mickey, Tea party (or not!!!)

rincess:
