Hi Everyone!!

We are planning to stay at the Summer Bay Resort in June 2009.

Has anyone stayed there before?? Please comment (good or bad) about your stay.

Also, if anyone has written a Trip Report and has stayed there or has pictures, please post a link so I can check them out.

Thanks for all your help. :thanks:
Kim

If you can work the Dis search feature, you will find alot of good info.

We stayed last October.

The resort is nice, amenities are nice, about 15-20 minutes from the Disney gates.

The gift shop is a complete rip off, do not buy anything there.

we have stayed in a lot of time share appartments in Orlando and were very disappointed in this one. We stayed in a very new apartment which was beautiful although we were eaten alive by mosquitos every night as our bedroom had an external door to the patio which was not sealed properly.

We particularly didnt like the pool areas.. very crowded and rather depressing with an overwhelming smell of fried food.

I know others like this resort - but it wasnt for us.

We enjoyed this resort. We stayed in the villas which were very small compared to other resorts. It did have new furniture and have a modern feel to it. Our hike to the pool was far but we were located next to the kid's waterpark area which isn't heated. The pool we did go to was quiet, clean and had no food around it. It was zero depth so my toddler really enjoyed it.

The landscaping reminds me of the Sheraton Vistana. It is very well kept. The lake area is lovely but you couldn't pay me to get in a Florida lake. The big pool was very busy. My kids enjoyed the playroom (legos, games and new friends to meet).

My one gripe was the lack of a restaurant onsite. They have a snackbar inside a convenience store at the main pool. It's pretty much overpriced food that is microwaved. Walmart is around the corner heading into Claremont and Publix is adjacent to the property.

All considered, we would stay here again in a larger unit.

Oh yaaa, those villas are awesome. It has a pleasant ambiance. I & my family had a great time there.:woohoo:

I had come across this place while searching in the BooRah restaurant guide for the place with good ratings and reviews.

We stayed in a one bedroom last year - August. Nice and new. The only problem I had was the wireless internet wouldn't work on our room. I had to go the club house and it was real pain. Spent 2 hours one day just trying to send a document. Very frustrating - my fault for taking work on vacation. :badpc: Unit was nice though. The pool was always very crowded but the kids didn't care.

We just got back from a week at Summer Bay! We loved it! The room was awesome. We got a two bedroom and it was awesome. The kids room seemed far away and their window was on the wall where people walk by so had us nervous about leaving them way in there alone! We had a great kitchen though I hate stainless steel cooking! Everything I try to cook in them sticks and burns! THis time we took our own pan so that helped quite a bit! We had a nice balcony and we were in a new area (I think) and they are finishing up a new pool area that I think should be open in a few weeks. My DH took the girls to the pool everyday and said they were all very nice! Was too hot do to much else but like I said, we loved our room! Our bath area in the master bedroom had a huge jacuzzi tub in it and a walk in shower! That was nice!! They let us check in early so that was a definite plus! No complaints about our stay! Except the kiddie water park area closed at 5pm each day! (Just when we were ready to go to it!) :( but the other pools were still open! I never went in the clubhouse so can't say much about that. Great big screen TV's too!!! I loved how they had each entry split up into two doors (rooms) after you entered the main door! Helped with hearing those next to you! We had stayed in Silver Lake last time and you could hear your neighbors like they were in your room! Had us freaked out a few times! it was a hike to walk to the pools though-so we drove! So just depends on where they put you and if you care about that!?
