I can get a great rate on a King suite at the Holiday Inn Express located at the Summer Bay Resort in Clermont. Any feedback on the resort amenities (pools, activities, lake sports)? I believe you are allowed to use the resort amenities even if you are staying at the Holiday Inn. It is a little further away from Disney but we are planning on several down days at the resort. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

We stayed there last year, it was very nice. It's gated, I felt safe, and the staff was wonderful. We didn't use the pool much, but it was nice, there's a small snack/necessities store there, but there's a grocery store right next to it. I liked it because it was quiet, not the traffic of the main strip. It didn't take us long to get to WDW. Unless it's changed drastically, I'd highly recommend it.

May I ask how you got that rate? I was quoted a rate of $80.10 this morning for AAA. Is there another kind of special?

I qualified for a government rate because of my husband's job. I got $65.00 for a King Suite for April 2005.

I booked the room but I am still undecided since it is a little further from Disney and Seaworld. Also, I hope we don't have any problems using the resort's facilities since we are staying at the Holiday Inn. I am hoping we can drive over (probably too far to walk?) and use one of the pools and lake activities at the resort. They seem to have alot going on. We are planning a few nonpark days.

...is the Inn at Summer Bay (which is also supposed to be nice and on the Summer Bay property) -- you can also use the amenities if you want, which include the interactive water park...

for $46.02 per night on Hotel Kingdom!

(I looked into this because I've already paid a week's stay at Summer Bay, and needed an extra night, so we'll probably do the Inn at Summer Bay and then just transfer over to the condo for a week -- yay!) :Pinkbounc

I'm looking into staying one night at the Inn of Summer Bay, as you had suggested. I will be staying at CPGV for a week starting on the 10th of Sept., and I needed an extra night before my stay there begins. I have a ressie for Pop Century, but I kind of wanted a place where my grandson could enjoy some kind of water play place without going to Typhoon Lagoon. The sprinkly/squirty things in the pictures from Summer Bay's pool look like a lot of fun. Thanks for that info!

We will be at Summer bay Resort next weekend for a week. It looks like a great place.

I spoke with some very nice people when I called yesterday to confirm reservations and to make sure the resort made it through the storm.

Here's their website, www.summerbayresort.com

Has lots of pictures and floorplans. The also have planned activites everyday.
