Anybody ever stayed at Summer Bay??? Our friend's will be staying there in December (we are staying @Pop!) Would appreciate any reviews or advice....especially driving to the parks or should they come to Pop and meet us??? Thanks!:cutie:

SUmmer Bay is on 192 West pretty much at the intersection of Route 27. It's in Clermont (no "E" after the r). It's about 6-7 miles to the closest point of WDW, which would be AKL/AK. It's probably about 10-11 miles to Pop Century. I would plan on meeting at the parks.

We stayed here last year. Although it is practically brand new, it was one of the least favorite resorts I've ever stayed in. They really nickle and dime you for things that are usually included at other resorts. Also, there is no restaurant on site. Be warned, they are actively selling weeks. The place was full of people on solicited $99 vacations. That said, Disney and Super Walmart are right around the corner (be sure to use Sherberth Road) and there's plenty of chain type dining near by. I suppose you could do worse.

We've stayed there twice and liked them very much. Not as close to Disney as some, but not a bad drive. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We stayed there 2yrs ago and thought it was great. The pools were clean and there were plenty of things to do that didn't cost extra. We weren't there to spend all our time at the villa so there wasn't much "nickel & diming" to be had, lol. The villa was nice, our first time staying in a place that had a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Plenty of room for us, lots of closet space. Also, each room had a tv which was great!

One cool thing is there is a Publix in the shopping center right next to Summer Bay, so we stocked up on food when we got there. Also, there is a library in the same shopping center that has free Internet for 30 minutes a turn. This was great for me cause I like to check my e-mail and other sites, but don't have a laptop to take on trips with me. I noticed when I was in Orlando last month that the libraries closer to the attractions charged for there Internet.

HTH!

We just left Summer Bay on Saturday after a good stay.

The resort is clean and well kept. There are activities on site, although some are pay per use. Mini golf was six bucks a head, but several times a week it is free through the activities department.

Location is accurate at about 6 miles, or a 10-12 minute drive from the edge of Disney property. It was no longer than 25 minutes to walk out of the front gate of a Disney park, take the tram to our car, and drive back to our room.

Drawbacks would be that the complex is spread out, not all of the amenities are near the clubhouse. You are nickel and dimed for activities. The gift shop is flat out highway robbery.

Publix is a long walk away, along with a Denny's, Hess, and 7-11. Superwalmart is around the corner on 27 with a few fast food places. Other eating was on 192 about 4 miles east.

We would stay again for the price we paid, which was $312. for the week on Skyauction.

We stayed there last year in September. We had the largest 2 bdrm. condo with the jacuzzi. It was wonderful. The best place we ever stayed. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, the pools and big interactive kids water park thing was great. They did invite us to breakfast to try and sell us a timeshare though. We went. It took all day but it was fine, we got free tickets to Arabian Nights.
It was 4 or 6 miles away from Disney. If you are staying on Disney, I wouldn't drive there to meet them. They have a gate and guard house anyway. Just meet them at the parks, it would be easier.
