Summer Bay observations

Got back from Summer Bay Resort after a week's stay 10/2-10/9...here's the lowdown from my/our perspective:

1. A tad far out, but once you got the ins & outs of the drive down, it was really no trouble.

2. The price we paid (thru AFVC) was weeeelllllll worth it.

3. The unit in which we stayed (Bldg 405- Rm 101A) was unbelievably nice. I have stayed in Marriott Grande Vista and many comparable properties and Summer Bay's was THE NICEST...the living room had a Tuscan feel with champagne colored accessories and dark woods and brown leather furniture -- gorgeous!

4. We were basically across the street from the big pool and the lake with the water trampoline, etc., as well as the clubhouse/hub.

5. The staff was a little "haughty" and a MAJOR SNAFU was made at check-out, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, because the facility was, in my opinion, REALLY NICE.

6. A very very nice touch was a 12 inch MIckey Mouse on the pillow for my children in the second bedroom!

are their cottages cute?

I will ask again when I get back - if Celebration World Resort is okay - I will be staying there in the future. (they allow pets in their rooms)

If not then I will definitely put Summer Bay on the list!

I paid for SIL to come here. It is beautiful!

We are travelling from the UK to stay here in 4 weeks time staying in a 1 bed unit,will be making some requests in a couple of weeks, any advice on a particular building, do the units have a washer/dryer? do buildings have elevators?

I won a 3 bedroom through skyauction for next summer. Are there restaurant close by and what about a grocrey store?

There is a publix right next door. There is actualy a sidewalk that takes you from the resort over to the shopping center the publix is in.

There`s a golden corral we ate at just a couple of minutes down the road. But,we didn`t eat anywhere else outside of disney so i can`t remember what else was down there.

Our Family was there also. 9 of us in 2 Villas. We had 2 bedrooms one on ground floor and other on 4th. I loved staying there. We requested items and received them later than we wanted like towels and xtra detergent for the Washer & dryer. Was so nice to just dry swim suits and towels as needed. Grocery so close and areas for a quick lunch to bring back as we needed. We thought drive to Disney parks was good and not much traffic. Very clean rooms and pool area was great for the kids. They loved the lake and the See Doo's rented was nice the last day there. Would recommend Summer Bay very much. They did need to explain check out better though.

MollyBelle, we were in 406 bld. room 105b. Bet we saw you at the pool and didn't know it. Same time there. I couldn't wait to come back and report on Summer bay. Glad you enjoyed your stay. We sure did. We will stay there again We got locked out of our room those doors are a problem sometimes when letting in other family members they shut so quickly.

Did either of you happen to notice that hotel while you were there?

I have a room booked for 1 night cause it was dirt cheap and not much else available

It says on the website that we can use all the summer bay facilities

On site as you drive in to Summer Bay there was a very nice looking Holiday Inn Express. That may be what you are referring to. It is about a 15 minute drive to Disney from there. Maybe you could check on an upgrade for Summer Bay facilities also.

I understand that there is fee to use the lake (i.e. trampoline). How much was it? Thanks
