Summer availability..Is this odd?

I have been debating switching my mid to late Aug trip to very early Aug. I have been checking availability for 1 bedrooms for the past 2 weeks and for 3rd week in Aug the only availability is OKW and SSR ( fine with us, SSR is kids favorite) Anyway, since we are now considering first week in Aug, I called MS this morning and there is availability everywhere except BC and AKV. This is the exact opposite of what I expected... anyone know why early Aug has more availability than late? Also, there were studios available too...

Availability changes often - it's hard to predict, especially as it gets closer to the dates

The first half of August is more expensive than the second half August. So my guess is that the less expnsive time fills more quickly than the more expensive time.

We have to use some points by mid-August (developer points) so this is good news. We tend to usually go the 3rd week and it was still pretty busy last year, even though many schools are back in session. We will be there sometime in the first week this year and I have to make the call this week for reservations. Good to know there are options left, though we too like SSR if there wasn't.

Point costs are more the first week in August. That could be one reason. It could be perceived as being hotter or less desirable weather. I'm glad you got a choice.

Much of mid-June to mid-August, except time around July 4, at the Magic season point rate is actually one of the slower DVC times of year. Many have caught on to those last two weeks in Aug both because of lower points and lighter park crowds.
