I would like some suggestions for summer/ July 2006 family of four vacation that is not a DCL. We live in NC.

Please include any website that might help.

What kinds of things do you like to do? Amusements parks, beaches, willing to fly?

We are going to Cancun to an all-inclusive resort.

I agree with Jennifer, what kind of vacation are you wanting to take.

We flew to San Francisco one year. Spent two nights there. Visited Alcatraz, on the third day went to Sausalito for breakfast, on to Muir Woods, then Napa Valley and did the Mondavi Wine tour. Headed for Lake Tahoe for three nights, enjoyed the lake, hiked, etc. On to Yosemite through the east gate, en route stopping at Bodie (the ghost town), past Mono Lake, etc. We spent three nights in the Yosemite area exploring the park. We left though the Mariposa Grove of Tall Trees, drove through Fresno, spent a night in Cambria (wonderful town). En route to Monterey, we visited the Heart Castle, tour #1, the Big Sur, Carmel, saw enough sea lions to fill a dozen Sea Worlds, visited the Monterey aquarium, on to Santa Cruz, rode the roller coaster and made it back to SFO to fly out at 10 pm. In 9 days we put 1600 miles on the rental car but saw an awful lot of California. It was great.

We did somethinfg very similiar one summer - was great!

We're thinking about taking the train (getting a sleeper room) out to San Diego then spending some time on the beach, going to the zoo and Balboa Park.

Part of the fun will be the train ride through the southwest.
