Any new news, or strong rumors?

There are now 3/4 threads on the same subject running but the summary is;-

Annoucement expected on 5th May at 10am @ Disneyland CL.

Most people think its going to the West coast with two repositioning cruises one up one back through Panama.

People say the Travel agents are now being pre informed and DCL and T/as should be up and running shortly after the annoucement.

Worries on the cost! If its too high, maybe demand might not be as high as DCL expects, but with a small window of dates possiblly they can charge what they want?

From DCL website this morning, a sign of things ot come on the 5th? ''This site is temporarily too busy to process your request. Please try again later''.

Most of the opinions I have read that believe the Magic is headed west are from westerners. No one knows what is going to happen. I find it VERY hard to believe that Disney will send the Magic west when their staff , cruise terminal and CC are east. We will see on the 5th. I believe that they will be adding new ports in the carribean.

Tonyspad, YOU and me are the 'few' who still hope for the Magic to stay in the carribean.

I agree fully with your logic, but the other 'posters' seem to have a very good case and all seem to feel it is going to California.

I am just hanging on to May 5th just to see what happens.

You might know of the story of 'the emperors new clothes' where everyone said they liked his new clothes even though he was naked. it just grew and grew, Eveyone followed each other, until one said sorry he doesnt have any clothes on.

Well these rumours have been getting stronger, some say they are in the 'know' everyone has 'herd' is going west.

But you can hope and pray until May 5th for a carribean itinary, and if it is announced I will be in the scamble to book!

I know of two people that are planning on being at DL on May 5th for the announcement. I gave them my home # and cell #, hopefully they will call and can give me some information to share, as I will be home recovering from from May 4th knee surgery. Should I hear any news, I will gladly hobble to my computer and share what I have heard. I imagine though, by the time I get to post anything, it will already be recorded here by someone else, I know this news is going to travel fast.

Thank you 'Verandah Man' I bet you will be first to post accurate news!

There is another 'option' to consider.

Many people have posted about hearing of two new DCL ships, although Disney would not be able to 'hide' the cost of purchase, or even the commitment, and on website lists of new ships there isn't any schedule for DCL.

But there is another option and that's 'leasing' a ship.

DCL could lease a new ship for say a year or so, at the start fit it out which some changes to customise it for DCL.

It could operate on any new route and test it out say West coast, and DCL might have the option to buy in due course.

DCL I have read brings in $50 million a year for Disney, and they operate with all cruises nearly to full capacity, so without a capital outlay, they could 'lease a new ship' work out the income they would get, and cover the costs of the lease and make a tidy profit.

This would in a very short time allow them to increase the options on trips.

Finally the reason for not publishing dates would be some people might want to swap cruise ships or itineraries.

This has just happened in the UK, Airtours have sold its ships to a Greek company, and they have leased them to Thomson holidays and they will refit them before they go into service in spring 2005.
