Suitcase security

Biggy and UKDeb.
I am in the same postition as you.I also have the carlton type hard cases with the combination lock.Anyone know of a method to secure these cases in a way that the customs can get into them if required.I do not really want to buy more cases.

We have some of these too. I fear them bursting if I don't spin the combination lock so we plan to use lockable luggage straps on the basis that they are cheaper to replace and keep the thing shut.

Just back yesterday. No problems on way out - cases were padlocked. On return journey we were told to leave cases open or cable tie them.

When we asked the checkin lady she said she would lock them.

The guy next door had combination locks and was told that if he locked it and the case "bleeped" at security, they would break into it .

We cabled tied ours and at Edinburgh found my case had been opened, but NOT resecured. Nothing looks missing.
