Can i take a large suitcase with a smaller suitcase inside? :confused3 Me and my husband will be sharing a really large case going to florida and dont intend to take much but want the two suitcases on the way back so that i can buy lots of goodies :woohoo: but will i get charged for the second case on the way home? thanks

It's the only way to travel on the outbound for me :lmao: It's not a problem, as long as you are within your weight and dimension limit as specified by your airline. :)

Happy Shopping!

Thank you 2Tiggies you are always the first person to help me :flower3:

You're welcome. :goodvibes I think I spend too much time on the DIS :rotfl2: Just re-reading your post about charging for the second case, you need to be within your "piece" limit as well. So if the one case is between the 2 of you going out and you then each bring a case back, you will be fine. I am assuming you are not talking about each taking an extra case, unless you booked last year before the changes came in and thus qualify for the old allowance.

Just another heads up, in case you don't already know. If you are flying with Virgin, in the event that your shopping trips are more successful than you anticipate ;) and you do have extra baggage on the way home, it is way cheaper to pre-pay the extra bag/s online beforehand (I think it has to be 24 hours away from departure, up to 3 hours before). I know nothing about other airline policies in relation to this, but I am sure some others will have similar policies.

Yes the one case is between us then we will just have one case each flying back :) we will be flying with virgin and we booked in june last year :cutie:

So you should get 2 cases each on the way back. Of course managing all that luggage is another story :scared1:, but still, nice to have the options.

I am taking one large case with another large one inside (just fits) packed with our things. I am also taking an extra full sized case which may have a few things in on the outbound because although I pack relatively light going there, the weight of the two cases, one inside the other, is already around 7 kg. I may squeeze our things in, but then I would rather distribute the weight between them. I should also add that I have no problem buying another case out there if I think I need one. ;)

We are going to be there at the same time - I see you leave a day before us.

Well just to bring in the balance and clear up any misconceptions you may have about me...... I was so chuffed yesterday getting a smaller suitcase on sale to go into one of my large ones. I took it into the loft this evening and although it is smaller, the shape and the handle and wheels mean it doesn't fit :headache:

So do I haul it back and get a smaller one or do I buy the matching big one that WILL hold it since they can be bought as a set and had some stacked inside each other as a set? :lmao: So much for my clever plan. I wanted one that is plain black/navy so I can decorate it. Now it's decision time.

i would get the matching bigger one if i was you :rotfl: its always nice to have a matching set ;)

I always pack a smaller suitcase inside a bigger one for the trip out - I didn't bother one year and all it meant was I had to buy a case in Walmart instead!

Good point. I think that's what I'm going to do. At least I will also know that they are designed to fit one inside another. Guess where I will be in my lunch hour tomorrow! Now you're helping me!

Now last year I had to do that. I just didn't have the option of Walmart. I bought so much stuff at the character shop in Premium outlets I couldn't carry it. They asked if I needed a hand getting it to my car :rotfl: Can't describe the faces when I mentioned I didn't have one! :lmao: So it was a quick run to buy one at the nearest store. I am acquiring quite a collection up in my loft as a result of this kind of behaviour. :rolleyes1

Omg, haha! You definitely win the prize! ;)

My 8 year old loves to bring it up. "Hey mum, remember that shop where they asked 'Do ya'll have a big trunk?' " She didn't help much in bailing me out there. She announced quite boldly to the shop 3 cashiers sorting, scanning and bagging my goods "Oh my mum does this a lot!" :guilty:

Could you please point me in the right direction of where on the website I can do this? I've been searching for it for days and can't find it anywhere. As we are going for xmas, I'm gonna need to take some presents over with us and know that one case isn't gonna do it :sad2:

I can't recall exactly, but I seem to think it had to be done when you do online check in, or if you can't or don't want to do OLCI, you can only pay for the extra luggage when your OLCI window opens. I could be wrong. I can't check now unfortunately. Having some internet issues. Maybe someone technically minded will bail me out on the Community Board and I will check it for you. :)
