DD and I are flying into the same airport (CLE) for vacation, but her flight arrives about 2.5 hours after mine. I'd like to stay in the gate section of the terminal (i.e., on the security-cleared side) so I can meet her at the gate and we can start vacation together (SOOOOO excited :cool1:). I'm not worried about me, but am wondering about what'll happen to my checked baggage. Will Southwest just hold it to the side, and I can pick it up after DD arrives? Arrival time for DD is 1:15pm so there should be someone in baggage claim. Do you think this'll be a problem? I could get my suitcase and sit in the baggage claim area, but I'd rather be in the gate area, have access to restaurants, internet, etc., and meet DD at her gate. Do you think my suitcase will be OK?

Your bags may very well go to the airlines unclaimed baggage area. You should be able to go there and claim it when your dd arrives.

Is CLE your final destination? Or are you both connecting in CLE and then flying to Orlando together? (trying to figure out if this is a different trip than the one in your signature)

Your luggage will eventually be collected by the airline. Sometimes they just stack it in a pile on the floor near the baggage carousels. No way would I leave my bags unattended for 2.5 hours in the baggage claim area.

It looks like there are food places in the main terminal; I'd wait there.

Yes, CLE is the final destination. Not sure what trip has you confused, but I have no idea of how to find my signature or what it says (I am a bit techno-stupid), so who knows! As of right now, no Disney trip planned... but that could always change at the drop of an airfare!

Your signature has a countdown with the castle on it, so I assumed it was a Disney trip. My bad. :)

In CLE you have a better choice of restaurants to wait at outside of security than in the Southwest gate area. So i would suggest that you get your bag when you arrive and just sit down at the food court outside of security and wait for your DD.
