Suitcase Packing Question

With all the new regulations is there any ideas/suggestions on packing your suitcase to expedite the process with these new xray machines so we don't have to open our bags up and go through everything at the airport?

I've heard a lot of stories about people having to do this and if I know in advance then it might help to speed things up a bit.

I roll all my clothes and put them in extra large zip lock bags, then press the air out. When they did search my suitcase, they did not take things out of the ziplocks, and it made the search go very quickly. Repacking was a breeze, and the inspection agent thanked me for making his job easier. Also kept a stranger's hands out of my personal apparel.

I don't pack a lot of toiletries, etc., but pick them up in small sizes when I get there. Also helps considerably with the search process.

I usually pack my toiletries in a tote and check that in - all in plastic baggies

but

what about shoes - I think I heard something about shoes need to be packed on top cause some shoes have metal in soles?

do you know anything about this?

our luggage was just taken from us and we were told to keep going....we would of not known if they had inspected it until we reached maine.....we made sure that nothing that was not clothing was in our suitcases....all meds and toilet articles and extra clothes were in our carry ons.......also...make sure that your prescriptions are in original bottles or pkgs...so they can see the name and prescription.....you are entitled to a carry on that can go either in the above area or in front of you under the seat......so use that space
