Hi, would you say that universal studios and island of adventure are suitable for a 2 year old. I was thinking of skipping these parks but don't want my son to miss out if he would have enjoyed them

We recently visited without our children and are planning to go back with them in the fall. They are 4 and 2. While there isn't a ton of stuff for them to do, we think they will enjoy meeting the minions and superheroes and exploring the Dr. Seuss area. There is also a fun play area in Universal Studios.

Depends...If you arre expecting them to be able to do alot of rides, than it wont be worth it.MANY have height requirements( even some in Dr Seuss) -and those that dont have requirements ( like some of the 3d shows-Shrek/Despicable me ) might scare them. There are , however, FANTASTIC play areas and character meet and greets.I would go to the universal website, look to see what is there and the requirements and then go look up some videos on youtube

We have a 3 (almost 4) year old daughter and she is able to do a lot of stuff at Universal Studios. Granted, our daughter is very tall for her age (almost 44" tall) and is a thrill seeker as we found out from going to Disney World last September.

I always considered Universal Studios more geared toward older kids\adults, but I think it is because of the perspective I went with before. Any time I have been before, I did not have kids with me. So I ignored a lot of the kid stuff and focused more on the thrill rides. But looking at it, I think there is a ton for kids, but unlike Disney.

When we were looking at the trip I made of a list of all the things our daughter would and would not be able to do based on the requirements. Some items we would skip based on parental discretion, but she would technically be able to do everything on this list. This would vary based on your kid, but here is ours.

I wouldn't skip them -- imagine how he'd feel if he was eating pizza and the Cat in the Hat walked into the restaurant. Like other posters said, there are amazing play areas in each park -- good luck getting out of them though. Unlike Disney, you will see characters throughout the park at certain times of the day either in street shoes or character meet and greets.

hmm tough question. as someone else pointed out- the height requirements might answer the question for you.http://www.heightrequirements.com/rides/universalstudios-islands

but here's where maybe you decide to go. if you are interested in going for your own experience and you have another adult with you. You could use single rider lines & baby swap.
i wouldn't go just for the play areas, but i don't plan my vacations strictly around my children's interests (especially young children)

IMO it really depends on the rest of your party.

If it's you and a spouse and the 2 year old, and if you and your spouse dislike splitting up for rides or parts of the day, then no, leave it until later. If it's just the 3 of you and you guys don't mind splitting off and doing different things, and if the adults really want to go to Universal, then sure, go.

If it's a varied group and most people in the group will get a lot out of the parks, then the enjoyment that the 2 year old can get will be fine, IMO.

they are pretty, fun, vibrant places, and there ARE play areas to spend some time in (the ball play pit back behind the Curious George waterplay area (follow the footprints to keep from getting soaked while getting back to the ball area!) is great fun. Super-soft balls to play with and shoot out of cannons and suck up with "vacuum cleaners"...loads of fun. And, again, they are supersoft and while they might startle a small one, they don't *hurt* if you're hit with one.

Wow your DD is very tall, My DD6 is only 41 inches tall.

My children DD6 and DS3 love Universal. Granted last time we went in 2012 DS wasn't walking but he enjoyed the sites and sounds of Dr Seuss and the characters. I have a great pic of him getting smothered by Curious George. He sat on the ground with DS and hugged him. We are going back in 2015 and cannot wait. DD wants to see the minions. DS loves anything Dr Seuss
