I wasn't sure whether to post this on here or the transortation board, so please feel free to move it if it is better suited elsewhere.

We are hoping to make a trip to Florida next year. We live in the UK and will be staying off site at a DTD hotel (Best Western Lake Buena Vista). There will be 5 adults, 2 young children (DS will be 4 and DD will be 3), a stroller and an ECV or a wheelchair. We are trying to find a car to suit our needs. My grandma thinks that it would be better if we just get a wheelchair for my aunt that my grandma will push around. I think they would be better wth an ECV but we can't figure how we are going to fit everything and everyone in the car.

Does anyone have any ideas or sggestions on how we can do this?

You might need to rent two cars - and that way, you could even split up during the day.

You would probably need a large SUV with three rows of seating and some space behind the last row. Normally the front row would be two separate seats and the other two rows would be bench seating for three. Note that you will need car seats for the two children.

And bring a Blue Badge to assist with the parking; they are recognized in the Orlando area as the same as a State-issued hang tag.

And the Best Western LBV is actually on Disney Property on Hotel Plaza Boulevard in the Downtown Disney area. The hotels on that street have their own bus service that goes to the parks. However, instead of going where the actual Disney buses go, they go to the Charter Bus lots. This means at MK they go to the TTC and not the MK bus station, and at the three other parks they are a little further out than the Disney buses. It might be worthwhile to invest in a transatlantic phone call or some e-mail messages to get more information about the specific bus service.

I think you might also manage w/ a large minivan. like, for instance, the dodge grand caravan. you could confirm w/ the rental company how much room their was behind the back seat. I have a kia sedona and the ECV will fit behind the 3rd row of seats when it is broken down. You will have to tell whomever you're renting the ECV from that you will need to be able to break it down to transport it.

ETA: um, is your grandmother planning on pushing the wheelchair around disney? I'm afraid that at the very least that would be extremely difficult- She might be quite fit, but Disney is not level; it would be a serious strain on her; I see that you have 5 adults, surely if a wheelchair was involved all the able bodied adults would share in the work of pushing it?

We had a 7 seater (Chrysler Voyager) from Dollar last year for 4 large adults, a 7 year old and 2 year old twins.

We managed to get my mums hired ECV in the boot and our twin buggy + bags. The ecv we hired was from Scooterama and fitted in just fine.

This year we are having an 8 seater from Dollar again as we are having 2 ecvs.

Both years were good rates from Dollars web site.

hope that helps
