We are planning on my groom and his Best Man, along with my Dad wearing nice black suits with dress shirts as opposed to renting tuxes. Has anyone else done this? Did you regret it? Will that look ok?

I vote for suits. I think they look better. MPO. Whatever you decide, though, your day will be magic. Good luck! :)

I say do what you and your DF want...

My DH doesn't like suits and we didn't want a very formal wedding (it was just the two of us) so I bought DH a beautiful white linen short sleeved shirt and dark docker style pants and I wore a white cotton gauze dress. I also told the officiant that we were being casual and he only wore a shirt and tie.

I don't regret it for a minute because it was "US" not a done up, completely "unnatural" look (not that I'm saying those who go all out are unnatural, it's just not a look I try ANY time!:rotfl: I hate dressing like a girl sometimes!;) )

And your DH2B and groomsmen will look fine in suits!

oh my gosh, i was totally thinking the same thing! i'm so glad that you asked this! my question to you is, is your dress really fancy? i don't know if my DF was to wear a suit and if my dress is too fancy, will it look out of place. is a suit fancy enough?

My stepson wore a khaki suit for his wedding -- best man & groomsmen wore khaki slacks, white shirts & blue blazers. They all looked very handsome, especially the groom (ok, I'm a biased stepmother)...

My DH2B will be wearing a suit and I plan on having a fancy dress. He spent big bucks last summer on a very nice black suit to wear to his friend's wedding so I figure we should get more use out of it. And honestly I've been to many weddings and never once have I noticed if the groom was wearing a tux or suit as long as it was black!

I think wearing a suit would be nice!! I have seen a lot of pictures where the groom is wearing a suit and it looks great!! I say do wahtever you two want to do and what you are comfortable with because that is the most important :)

We were debating about the same thing. Since we're having the wedding, possible MK photo shoot, and an at-home reception, it would be expesive to rent a tux for all. So it's either buy a tux or buy a suit. We have a few other weddings coming up so I think the suit is going to win out.

I think the suit will look great even with a fancy dress. Like others have said, whichever your DF is more comfortable in.

My Df will be wearing a suit. Renting a tux would work out pretty expensive to us as we are in the UK, but not only that he will get more use out of the suit and could wear it all seperately on different occasions. We are having the Mk photo shoot and a reception when we get home, so the suit will have more wearability.

I think a dressy suit is lovely personally:love:

My dress is an A-line, no train, but still pretty fancy, from david's Bridal. He is a CPA so he has a few real nice (expensive :scared: ) suits, due to his career. So we don't even have to buy it! :cheer2:

I think what I am going to do is have DF wear a black suit, white shirt, silver tie. BM wear a black suit, white shirt, and a tie the color of MOH's dress. Dad's wear black suits, white shirts, and black ties. And ring bearer wear black dress pants, white shirt, and black tie. (I am not gonna ask my sister to by her 6 year old (Ring Bearer) a suit that he will grow out of in a year! ;) )

How does that sound?

My DF is wearing a tan suit. We found a few tan tuxes, but we really did not like the color. His groomsmen are probably just wearing tan suit pants and an ivory shirt, no jacket since we are trying to keep the wedding a little informal. Plus it will be really hot at the end of June!

Sounds really nice! I think that will be perfect! I wore a very formal wedding gown with a semi-cathedral train, beading, the works (no veil though). I didn't intend to, but when I tried it on with my mom we both knew it was The One. But I still did not want to put DH in a tux. He wore a dark charcoal grey suit, an ivory shirt (my gown was ivory) and a burgundy tie. Our wedding colors were ivory and burgundy. MOH wore a burgundy dress and DH's tie exactly matched it, which was amazing since they were bought separately, months apart. Daddy wore dark grey dress slacks, ivory shirt, and a burgundy/ivory patterned tie. He's retired and I wasn't going to have him shell out big bugs for a suit. Our Best Man got sick and couldn't attend pretty last minute but he would have been in a matching color suit, ivory shirt, and a burgundy/ivory patterned tie. I personally think a dark suit is very attractive and it's something that can be worn again.

It's kind of funny, we ladies will wear our wedding gowns once (maybe twice if we want a vow renewal and can still fit in it  ) but men can wear their wedding suit again and again. DH wore his for the wedding ceremony, formal night on our honeymoon cruise, to my Christmas office party, then in 2006 for the two formal nights on our 1st anniversary cruise, and another Christmas party. My BFF is getting married this year and he'll wear it to the wedding. All I had to do was get him another shirt and a couple other ties - I retired his wedding tie with my gown :goodvibes
