Next month I am driving down to WDW from NY w/ my parents for my 2nd College Program. We are planning on making the trip in 3 days. First leg of the trip (Aug 11th) we will be stoping in the DC area and staying with my brother who lives there.

2nd leg of the trip (Aug 12th), I need some help. We wanna drive about 8-10 hours that day (so I figure it will put us in the SC, GA area). Anyone have any good suggestions around what city/town to stop by to spend the night around I-95? or atleast what places to avoid due to events in the area?

TIA :)

Hampton Inn, Richmond Hill Ga, clean, safe, comfortable, just off I-95. Near lots of restaurants and gas stations.

Or the Hampton Inn in Brunswick, Ga.
For exactly the same reasons Ducklite articulated about the one in Richmond Hill.

same Hampton Inn in Richmond Hills, GA ... a Sleep Inn at, I think, the first exit into GA ... also in Richmond Hills a good local restaurant - Southern Image(s) ... travel safely & enjoy your advanced college program ... we were talking to a young lady who recently returned from the advanced progranm & enjoyed it ...

This is where we always stay when we drive. The next morning's drive to WDW is about 3 1/2 hours.

Country Inn and SUites, Kingsland, Ga. New, CLEAN, great breakfast, discount at the 3 next door restaurants, nice indoor pool, cheap gas at that exit. About 3 hours north of WDW.

Also, we use a book called The Next Exit. It's an interstate highway exit directory. It gives whatever is located at each exit -- gas stations, motels, fast food places, restaurants, etc., and it's updated yearly. It's really helpful if you're trying to locate a specific hotel or gas station on your route and trying to figure out when/where to stop.

We stayed at a very nice Wingate Inn in Florence, SC. (Exit 164) Very clean and very nice cont. b'fast., too.

Thanks all, I am currently going through my maps from AAA and high-liteing some of the cities you suggested. I'm driving down w/ my Parents for my 2nd WDW COllege program =). We are stoping in Alexandria, VA and staying with my brother the first night, and the 2nd night we are prob going to wing it, and try to find some wheres to stay in one of the areas u suggested. Thanks a bunch, only 13 days left before i leave =)

From Alexandria, you are only about 12-14 hours away. I would be tempted to drive the rest of the way and settle in at my resort. However, Brunswick is not a bad area to stay in and is about 4 hours from Disney. There are many places to stay there.

PS: I drive straight through from MA all the time, so YMMV. Do what you feel comfortable with.

I have stopped overnight in Alexandria before ( my brother lives there too!) on the way to WDW. We like to push and stop at Kingsland on the GA/Fl border. Depending on what time you leave and what time you want to stop, it should be about 10 hours.

The Country Inn and Suites that someone mentioned before is great. I think we're stopping there in a couple of weeks too. There's an Applebees right next door.

GA is a very short state, at least driving through on 95.
